Robert Batlle takes 10th Spanish National title in a row

The final round of the Spanish 1/8th Nitro Buggy National Championship was held at the multi-surface Valladolid track this past weekend. 9-time National Champion Robert Batlle (Mugen) was the pre-event favourite going into the final round as he was in the position to snatch his 10th title in this class, but it was Ricardo Monteiro (TLR) who came out fastest after the qualifiers in front of Oscar Baldo (Mugen). Robert ended the qualifiers on the third place, Bryan Baldo (Mugen) rounded out the top 4. The semi finals then saw Robert coming out fastest from Ricardo with both being the only drivers to score 36 laps runs and in the main final Robert would use all of his experience to take the day’s win and with it his 10th consecutive 1/8th Nitro Buggy title. TQ Ricardo Monteiro ended the race on the runner-up spot, Oscar Baldo rounded out the podium result in third.

Michael wins at East Coast Race Against Cancer

Michael wins at East Coast Race Against Cancer

The 14th Annual East Coast Race Against Cancer was held at McCullough’s RC in Sarver, PA, which is in close proximity to the city of Pittsburgh, PA. The race program would have three rocket rounds of qualifying with 10 racers directly qualifying into each main event with two bump-ups to make a 12-car field for the main race. The schedule originally was laid out so that there would be practice on Thursday with one round of qualifying on Friday, with the remaining two qualifiers taking place on Saturday and the Mains on Sunday. Due to the rain that was forecasted for Saturday, two rounds of qualifying would take place on Friday, which was the day that had the best weather out of the four days. In the 2WD Modified Short Course class Andrew Michael set an early top qualifying time in round one of qualifying and then bettered his own TQ time by 8 seconds in round two. Andrew’s TQ would hold throughout the third and final round of qualifying. Due to the rain Saturday night and on Sunday, the track was unable to be fit for racing, so the mains were cancelled and the final finishing positions were determined based upon how each racer qualified. Since Andrew was the Top Qualifier in the 2WD Mod Short Course Truck class, he was awarded the win.

Perez & Ratheisky win at Spanish National Series

Perez & Ratheisky win at Spanish National Series

The final round of the Spanish National Series was held in Barakaldo, Spain in the three classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock and Formula. With rain being forecasted during the weekend the organisers tried to get through the qualifiers as quick as possible and in the Modified class it was David Perez who grabbed the overall TQ thanks to a blistering final qualifier that also smashed the current track record. In the Formula class Jan Ratheisky would grab a pretty undefeated TQ to get the pole position for the finals. Unfortunately on Sunday heavy rain forced the organisers to cancel the race, meaning the qualifying results would determine the day’s winners. Therefore David Perez (Xray) would take the win in the Touring Modified class from Dominic Vogl (Yokomo) and Jon Ander Lorenzo (Xray) while in the Formula class Jan brought home the win thanks to his TQ.

Starting the main final from 5th position he climbed up the order constantly and after 25 minutes he crossed the finishing line in first position.
