The first round of the Turkish 1/8th buggy offroad series was held at the Snappy Raceway in Istanbul over the weekend. In the E-buggy class, run on Saturday, Serpent’s Deniz Aksüt dominated the proceedings by taking the TQ, win and fastest lap. For Sunday’s nitro buggy race Deniz was able to conserve his performance as he again took the TQ, the win and the fastest lap in the 45 minute final.

Round 1 of the Canary Cup 2014 was run at the Narea track in Telde, Gran Canaria with 24 drivers attending. The meeting also counted towards the Las Palmas Championship and was hampered by somewhat unstable weather with moments of light drizzle. In the 30 minute final Cristo González (Mugen) secured the win from tone to tone while Cristian Artiles (Xray), who faced a poor start and setup trouble, would finish in 2nd place. Young Sergio Betancor (Kyosho) ended the race on a good 3rd position. Leandro Romano (SWorkz) came in 4th after a smooth run in the final while Antonio Sosa (Kyosho) was another driver who ran into trouble during the day. Jose Heriberto Santana (SWorkz) finished in 6th place after passing Juan José Llanos (Xray) suffered from a flame out only metres from the finish line.

The JConcepts North Carolina 1/10 Off Road State Championships will be held on the 28th of June at The Warehouse RC Complex in Haw River, North Carolina. The race will be held in 1/10th electric classes such as 2WD Modified Short Course, 2WD 17.5 Short Course, 4WD Short Course, 2WD Modified Buggy, 4WD Buggy and Modified Stadium Truck. The 2 day event sees practice on Friday June 27th and racing on Saturday June 28th. Sign up is now under way on rcsignup.com.
The 3rd round of the Swiss electric off-road nationals was held at the Umwelten Arena in Spreitenbach on a medium-bite carpet track with 120 drivers in attendance. Team Associated/Reedy’s Patrick Hofer swept both the 2WD and 4WD Modified Buggy classes after taking the TQ in the 4WD class and starting from the 2nd place on the grid in 2WD. In 4WD Patrick was sidelined on the podium by Milan Steiner (Team Durango/Team Orion) and Peter Forster (Yokomo/Nosram), while Nico Schmid (Yokomo/Hope Modellbau) and Gregi Gassmann completed in the podium in the 2WD class.

Xray Korea invites all Xray drivers to take part at the Xray Challenge Korea. Taking place at the Kirina Circuit on the 1st of June, the race sees the running of electric and nitro 1/10th classes along a 1/8th nitro on-road class. Xray’s Alexander Hagberg will be present for support. More information can be found here.
The Swedish 1/8th Off-road Cup was run last weekend at the technical multi-surface track of Höör. Rainy weather on Saturday morning meant the organisers had to skip the first round of practice in order to prepare the track. The qualifying saw a battle between Christoffer Svensson, Johan Balsberg and Kennie Ekenstierna with the better end for Kennie who scored two round wins and ultimately set the fastest time to take TQ.

VBC Racing’s Ryan Maker has TQ’d and won a hotly contested Modified field at the 2014 NSW State Titles at Sydney’’s premier SMA track. Ryan wrapped up TQ in the first 3 rounds of qualifying with his Muchmore-powered VBC D06, ahead of Simon Nicholson and Craig McPhee. Ryan took a close win in the first A-main from Simon and Ari. A mistake by Simon on the 3rd lap of A -main 2 gave Ryan a 2 second gap which he was able to maintain and secure his 2nd NSW State Title. Ryan sat out the last final which saw Simon take the win from Ari Bakla (Xray) and Nathan Reese (Xray).

The Serpent Challenge Slovenia will be held on the 1st of June in Tolmin. The race will be held in 1/10th electric, 1/10th touring, 1/8th track, 1/8th GT/Rally and 1/5th scale classes with a factory driver supported workshop on Saturday while Serpent designer Michael Salven is present for additional support.
