Mcgee & Williams successful at Masters Finals

Mcgee & Williams successful at Masters Finals

Last weekend saw the sixth and final round of the fantastic Worksop Series taking place. With no let up in drivers wanting a race entry to this hugely popular series, it was a full line up of 15 heats, with 8 heats of 2WD and 7 heats of 4WD. As always Round by round qualifying was the racing format, with the best 2 results from 4 rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position. Some championship contenders were unable to make this race, therefore it meant that no overall championship positions were yet decided and all was still to play for in the top 10 in both championships, therefore the points at this event were vital for some drivers.

Tekno RC have announced the signing of Barry Pettit to their factory team. The former Mugen driver is known for his dedication to RC cars and also willingness to help others on the track so he can be seen as a great asset to the company’s growing US team. Barry has the following to say about the deal:

For me, RC racing began going to the local track with my dad strictly to have fun and hang out together. Neither of us ever thought it would grow into such a large part of our lives. We have traveled to so many great places and met so many great people, and for that we are majorly thankful! There are so many people to thank for my success, but first I want to thank my family and my girlfriend for always supporting my passion and me. I am also thankful for ALL of the people who have supported, sponsored, and mentored me in the past as you have shaped me into the driver and person I am today.

Andersson wins Swedish 1/12th Modified title

The recent Swedish Electric On-road Nationals held at the IRC Arena saw a lively battle for the 1/12th Modified title between Alexander Andersson and Marcus Hellquist. Alexander was fastest in four of the five qualifying rounds but Marcus managed to take the overall TQ with an even faster time. In the opening A-main Marcus would come out fastest from Alexander who in turn won A2, meaning the third and final A-main would bring the title decision. In A3 Alexander managed to slip by Marcus in the opening stages of the race and he would then be able to manage the gap so Alexander Andersson (Yokomo) would ultimately take the win and with it the 2016 title from Marcus Hellquist (Xray). Magnus Hedlund completed the top 3 result.

JR Mitch triples at Region 4 Championships

The ROAR Region 4 1/8th scale championships were held at Triple Nickel in Bartow, Florida. A staple in the Florida racing scene for decades the facility put in one of the best layouts the state has seen. A very fun flowing circuit with well built jumps and elevation changes throughout the lap. The weather held up nicely allowing a good groove to form in the racing line however the threat of rain led to a little under-water issue on Sunday due to the forecasted rain that never came, let the track get a little dry and slick dust on main event day making set up and tyre selection crucial.
