Andy Báez does the double at Rd6 in Puerto Rico

The sixth round of the Puerto Rico Championship was held at the Barceloneta R/C track last weekend. In the 1/8 scale class it was Andy Báez who was setting the pace in qualifying, taking pole position with the only 15 lap run of the day. In the 30 minute final Andy was leading ahead of Mugen team mate Fernando Méndez and Kyosho driver Pedro Alvarado when he had his front tire come-off twice, allowing Alvarado to take the lead. Some serious recovery laps by Báez allowed him take the advantage of Alvarado’s mistakes to be able to recover and go on to take the race win by 3 laps over 2nd place Fernando Méndez with Pedro Alvarado eventually dropping back to 3rd spot.

Josué Artiles wins Rd2 in Spain

Josué Artiles wins Rd2 in Spain

The 2nd round of the Spanish 1/8th scale National series was held earlier this month at the Club Autet Track in Almussafes, host of last years 1/8th scale European Championships. Once again the race saw 70 drivers registered and the hot sunny weather let the drivers enjoy a nice racing weekend. Following qualifying Oscar Cabezas got the TQ spot followed by local driver Nacho López, current Champion Josué Artiles and Sergio Montesinos. In the final Josué Artiles made a great start and overtook Óscar Cabezas, who was running with big tires so as to not have to change, and in the very first laps set a pace that no one else could follow and so could take the win from Cabezas. There was an interesting fight for the third place involving three drivers, which finally went the way of former Spanish Champion Sergio Montesinos with Israel Solís and Víctor González eventually taking 4th and 5th respectively.
