Rick V wins Dutch 1/8th Nats Rd5

The 5th round of the 1/8th scale Dutch Nationals was run at the weekend on the MACH circuit in Heemstede, near Amsterdam. Qualifying saw Belgian Kyosho racer Ilia van Gastel take the pole position ahead of Serpent racer John Ermen in 2nd and Mugen factory racer Rick V. in 3rd. Just before the main final it started to rain and with little time to prepare before the race started, a lot of drivers were not prepared and some didn’t race. As the race started a number of drivers were out almost straight away including Ermen, but Rick V had no troubles and was able to work his way out to the front where he stayed for the entire race, taking the win and finishing ahead of Motonica driver Daniel Van der Drift in 2nd with Serpent driver Stanley Bauer in 3rd.

D’hondt wins Belgian 1/8th Nats Rd5

The weekend just gone saw the 5th round of the Belgian 1/8th scale National Championships held at the brand new Charlerloi track. In qualifying it was Serpent racer and winner of rounds 1 and 4, Robin D’hondt that took the pole position ahead of his team mate and round 3 winner Steven Cuypers in 2nd. In the warmup for the final Steven stripped his front belt and with little time to fix it, decided to start the final with 2wd, which proved difficult to drive and he retired shortly after. Pole man D’hondt got a good start and despite some small clutch problems he was able to take the win by 6 laps ahead of 2nd placed Michel Bourgeois with 3rd spot going to Gunther Van Staey.

Neil Diver wins Rd7 of UK 1/8th Nats

Diver wins Rd7 of UK 1/8th Nats

Last weekend saw the 7th round of the BRCA 1/8th scale National Championships run at the Crystal Palace track in London. Qualifying saw Mugen racer Neil Diver set the TQ by 6 seconds ahead of team mate Andy North in 2nd with Kyosho racer Dave Dixon in 3rd. At the start of the final it was pole man Diver who took the lead followed by Dave Dixon who passed Andy North in chase of the leader, but who then made a slight mistake through the chicane which cost him time. Andy North was then coming under pressure from the fast charging Pete Hastings and Jason Frost and allowed them to pass due to poor handling on big tires. After 10 minutes and with mistakes by Hastings and Frost, as well as the retirement of Dixon, gave Andy North a comfortable 2nd place behind Diver who took the win by 3 laps while local racer Rob Coleman rounded out the podium with 3rd.

Christensen wins German North 1/10th

Christensen wins German North 1/10th

Xray have a report on their site by their team driver Martin Christensen from the latest round of the North German regional 1/10th scale Championships, that was held at the MACH track in Hamburg. The weather was good and in qualifying it was Serpent driver Andreas Giesa that took the TQ from team mate Ralf Krause in 2nd and NT1 driver Martin Christensen in 3rd, the top 3 covered by less than 2 seconds. In the race Giesa got off to a good start but Christensen was hit by a number of cars at the start losing close to a lap and so had to push hard to gain time. When Giesa had an engine flame out, Martin could take the lead where he stayed to take the win by 2 laps from Giesa in 2nd and another Serpent driver Jens Stark in 3rd. Note the new Xray wheels on Martins car above.
