Hicklin wins Rd3 of UK 1/8th Nats

Hicklin wins Rd3 of UK 1/8th Nats

We were a bit slow off the mark with the result of the 3rd round of the BRCA 1/8th scale Nationals which took place last weekend at the ultra fast Tibshelf track. The event was hampered by wet weather which started just before qualifying and continued for the rest of the event. In the qualifying it was Serpent racer and round 1 and 2 winner Mark Green that took the top qualifying spot by just less than a lap ahead of team mate Richard Hicklin with Pete Hastings in 3rd, 1 second further back. In the main final the rain continued to fall and only 8 drivers took to the start with pole sitter Mark Green the first retirement after 1 lap. Andrew North led from the start but had some rain related problems after 10 minutes, as did most of the racers, and in the end it was Richard Hicklin that won the race by 2 laps from Pete Hastings with Tim Wood a distant 3rd, 14 laps further back.

ROAR create LiPo powered Demo class

ROAR

Back at the end of last year, ROAR (US governing body) announced that LiPo cells would not be allowed to be used at their sanctioned events as a power source. Well 6 months on and it seems that ROAR has changed its opinion of the new cells, as well as brushless motors, by announcing that the 2007 ROAR Off Road Electric Nationals has added a LiPo/Brushless demo class. What is interesting about this demo class is that it is for 1/10th 2wd trucks, all brushless motors are allowed and the A-main final will be 20 minutes long, which should make for some good racing.

Wischnewski wins Rd1 in Central Germany

Rd1 Central German regionals

Last weekend saw the first round of the central German regionals run on the MSC Kirchhain track, near Marburg. Qualifying saw the pole position taken by Xray NT1 driver Dirk Wischnewski with team mates Andreas Schuch and Patrick Garbi lining up in 2nd and 3rd position on the grid for the main final. The start of the main final saw Dirk, and Mugen racer Alexander Mehl, pull away at the front until Dirk had a flame out dropping him down the order and allowing Mehl to take the lead. The Mugen racer held onto this position until a mechnical problem sidelined the Mugen driver allowing Dirk back into the lead which he held onto until the end of the race, leading home 2nd placed Patrick Garbi with SMI owner, and Xray importer, Bertram Kessler in 3rd, both drivers also racing the NT1.
