FSEARA Rd2 Coral Spring – Report

Another strong 85 entries event at the Coral Spring RC club for the 2nd round of the FSEARA series. It was a successful event although mother nature totally destroyed the day of practice on Saturday, with the rain destroying both the track condition as well as the pit area. The start of Sunday morning was another rain out, forcing the event to have a further delay. With both the delay and Daylight saving time change, the FSEARA had to change its original 3 rounds of qualifiers to 2 rounds and extend the practice time. As many drivers were coming from out of town it was important to get some track time for the first time after the rain delay at around 10am. With only 2 hours of open practice it was an intense battle royale practice with all classes on the track at the same time.

Team Powers Cup double for Lex Tyler

The Team Powers Cup was held at Norcal Hobbies this past weekend in San Jose Ca. Normally this race happens in April but due to Covid 19, it has been extended to November which made racing a little more challenging since it is winter time. Racers got a late start on practice as track surface was wet the night before. For the 13.5 TC class it was a tie breaker between Xray driver Lex Tyler and Sean Guthrie to decide the title. This is a heads up format schedule for 6 rounds structured with Can-Am fixed motor timing and fixed gearing. The spec tires were Team Powers 34SU. Racers had to pick a motor for Saturday and give back to shuffle with a different motor on Sunday and this all keeps an even playing field.

Jamie Hall takes EssexCarpetClash Rd2

Last weekend saw round 2 of the EssexCarpetClash championship take place. The track was a little challenging in places to get a perfect lap, but was rewarding when you did. After 4 rounds qualifying, Jamie Hall showed his talent by topping the time sheets for all rounds with his Associated. The rest of the field would then place their best times to get as high up the 8 field grid for the 3 legged finals. William Venables managed to secure second on the grid with his Associated ride, while Yasir Mughal had a good consistent qualifying to place third ahead of fellow Yokomo driver Harley Eldridge. The finals would go the same way as qualifying for Hall, never looking back and taking all leg wins in the finals. Mughal would get caught up with a few errors in the finals, where as Eldridge would keep her head and run clean, managing to finish second in two of the finals. Venables would complete the podium in third, where his second place finish in leg 2 would be a key counting score.
