HB Racing release more D817 images

HB Racing have issued a new set of images showing the production prototype of the soon-to-be-released D817 1/8th off-road buggy. First information released indicate the buggy will be using a new long wheelbase 3mm aluminium chassis, a fine-adjustment aluminium D-mount, revised rear end upright geometry, universal and CV-style driveshaft compatibility as well as monocoque suspension arms, sintered brake pads and a reinforced and enclosed radio tray. Also included will be a Pro-Line Predator bodyshell and Trifecta wing. With the kit being on show at next week’s International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany we guess HB Racing will soon post more details of the 2016 World Championship winning buggy.

Tamiya set for more (re-)releases in 2017

Information about forthcoming Tamiya (re-)release kits is coming in thick and fast these days as the Japanese company is set for more re- and new releases this year. Following some interesting re-releases such as the Bigwig 2017 and Top Force 2017, Tamiya will reportedly also re-issue the Grasshopper II alongside new releases such as the DT-03 based Racing Fighter Chrome entry-level 2WD buggy, the Ferrari F12TdF and the MAN TGS Team Reinert Racing truck. We bring you more information on all kits as soon as they surface.

SWorkz S35-3 1/8th nitro buggy – More images

Ahead of its official introduction SWorkz have released more images of the new S35-3 1/8th nitro buggy kit. The latest incarnation of the S35 platform comes with newly designed front arms with the upper wishbones allowing to use carbon fibre inserts to adjust stiffness while a new steering plates makes for an optimised Ackermann geometry. Other changes include new shock towers, a redesigned radio tray, updated rear arms as well as a new 7075 aluminium chassis that allows to attach optional weights to fine-tune the buggy’s weight distribution.

TLR 22T 3.0 2WD stadium truck kit

Team Losi Racing have introduced their new 22T 3.0 2WD stadium truck kit. Based off of the championship-winning 22 3.0 buggy the latest variant of TLR’s popular race truck benefits from the same innovations as the 22 3.0 buggy and so the truck features a revised motor position that is 12mm closed to the diff gear for better rear end grip, more corner entry steering and an overall easier to drive vehicle. Also included is the new 3-gear transmission for decreased chassis roll and improved stability. The front suspension received a make-over with all-new C-blocks and A-arms as well as a bellcrank steering system that makes for a more neutral yet nimble handling.

Lee & Chiang successful at Urban Astro Buggy Champs

Singapore’s electric buggy racing season flagged off this past weekend at the first round of the 2017 Urban Astro Buggy Championships. Run at Urban PlaySpace in downtown Singapore, racers were greeted with a track layout sporting a new wall-ride as well as an elevated straight. In the 2WD class, Esmail Apandi (Xray) TQ’ed in front of Nicholas Lee (Yokomo) and Kamen Koh (Serpent). In the finals, Esmail took the leg 1 win after an early mistake by Nicholas. In leg 2, Nicholas bounced back with a win as Esmail tumbled in the tricky front-double section. With Kamen finishing second in both legs 1 and 2, there would be a 3-way showdown in the final leg. A3 then was a close affair with Esmail holding the early lead after mistakes by Nicholas dropped him to fourth. Never giving up, Nicholas put in a masterclass performance to close rapidly on Esmail. At 90 seconds remaining, Nicholas took advantage of a small opening as Esmail ran wide to take the lead. Nicholas held off the determined Esmail to win an exciting Leg, taking the overall win.

ProStar B6 titanium hinge pin set

Coming from ProStar R/C and made for Team Associated’s B6 series of buggies is a titanium hinge pin set. The 8-piece kit replaces the stock parts with high-quality Grade 5 titanium upgrades that will not rust or break. Included are four 3x34mm front bulkhead pins as well as two 3x26mm and two 3.5x48mm shafts and the kit is available now.

Tekno NB48.4 1/8th nitro buggy kit

Following the introduction of the EB48.4 a few weeks back, Tekno now also revealed the revamped NB48 platform. The latest .4 kit features a new CNC-machined 7075 aluminium chassis with improved wear characteristics, a revised steering geometry and Ackermann plate, a bearing supported spindle and carrier design, a revised wide rear pivot suspension geometry as well as new universal driveshafts for a more efficient drivetrain. Other changes include CNC-machined 4×1.9mm flat/flat delrin pistons and rod guides, aluminium bleeder shock caps to allow building emulsion, vented and non-vented shocks as well as new low-frequency shock springs and a fighter yet inspired bodyshell.

Futaba O.S. Speed Tuned high-performance servos

Futaba have introduced a special line of “O.S. Speed Tuned”-branded servos for 1/8th and 1/10th scale applications to celebrate the two company’s long-running collaboration. First up is the Speed T1 BLS571SV (0.08s/11kg-cm) low profile servo for 1/10th touring car and off-road classes. It offers hardened gears, ceramic ball bearings and aluminium top and middle sections. Next up is the Speed R1 BLS371SV (0.10s/19kg-cm), a standard-size servo for 1/8th on-road applications featuring hybrid gears, ceramic bearings and an aluminium upper case and middle section. Last but not least is the Speed B1 S9373SV (0.06s/24.6kg-cm), an all-alloy case servo for buggy racing, again with hybrid gears and ceramic bearings. All servos are high-voltage compatible and they come in a special red and black anodised design and with dark-toned servo leads.
