Bruno again in Q2

Bruno Coelho has effectively secured himself the overall TQ at Round 4 of the Euro Touring Series in Italy after he opened Day 2 of the event with a second TQ run.  Having claimed last night’s opening ‘rocket round’ qualifier,  taking Q2 will make it hard for the Xray driver to be denied pole for the A-Main as the time from the opening qualifier will be near impossible to beat giving today’s hotter track conditions.  With Coelho on his second set of tyres, Ronald Volker would do well to get within 3/10ths of the reigning champion given he was on the same set of tyres he ran to a P3 in Q1.  While offering ‘no comment’ on his tyre strategy for Q2, Viljami Kutvonen would complete the Top 3 ahead of Viktor Wilck and Meen Vejrak, both drivers on new tyres having opted to sit out Q1.

Coelho returns to form to take opening Q1 at ETS Italy

Bruno Coelho returned to form when it counted most with the Xray driver taking the opening round of qualifying at ETS Italy.  Having set the pace in free practice, the ETS Champion ended up P6 after the two rounds of controlled practice as Ronald Volker topped the seeding.  In the evening’s opening qualifier, which would bring the first official day of the fourth round to a close, Coelho was back in business taking the TQ ahead of Marc Rheinard and Volker.  Behind the trio of title protagonists, Elliott Harper would put in a strong performance to set a competitive P4 time followed by Jilles Groskamp and Yannic Prumper.

Volker tops seeding at ETS Italy

Ronald Volker is the top seed for the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Italy.  Having set the fastest time in the opening controlled practice, the Yokomo driver bettered his time in the second round when wind caused many drivers, including Volker, issues. Behind the World Champion, Jilles Groskamp would find a big improvement over his opening practice to set the second fastest time to demote his Infinity team-mate Marc Rheinard to third.  With Rheinard and Viktor Wilck failing to go quicker in the final practice, Akio Sobue would be the next driver to improve going from P8 in CP1 to P5.  The Japanese driver’s improvement would drop last year’s winner Bruno Coelho to sixth, the Xray driver believing additive is the reason for him being off the pace.

Texas Electric Onroad Series – Report

The penultimate round of the 2017 Texas Electric Onroad Series was held in San Antonio, Texas. Hosted by the Alamo City Racing Club, the race took place at a local community park on a converted tennis court. The abrasive tennis court surface provided high traction, but also high tire wear. The track itself was large and flowing, allowing for high speeds and some extremely close racing. Unforgiving wooden lane barriers made driving a clean race essential, as one wrong brush against the boards could send a driver back to the pits early. The event featured six different race classes. In Modified Touring, Chris Tosolini would take both TQ and 1st in the A-main. Ron Atomic would post the single fastest lap in the main, while working his way from fourth on the starting grid to finish second overall. John Hodges would round out the top 3 drivers.

Nosram HD StockSpec brushless speed control

UK Nosram distributors Schumacher have introduced the new HD StockSpec brushless speed control. The HD Stock Spec comes pre-installed with the all-new v5.1 software. This software is adapted to the new hardware and new vital features have been added to make it best possible for today’s need in Stock racing. Initial Drive Feel Compensation (IDFC) has been developed especially with Stock racing in mind to maximise the comfort of initial drive feel over the whole race. Activating IDFC will provide initial drive increments depending on the temperature of the motor. This innovative feature will help to match the same power feeling on throttle over the whole race. Users can either select no compensation or adjust more IDFC to match the desired feeling on throttle after the motor gets hotter and battery weaker. Newly developed Stock parameters for the timing allow to unleash the full power potential in all boosted classes. The new BDX-S break rounds off the package for Stock drivers. Four different brake types including BDX-S are now included, enabling maximum braking power with increased response for pin-point accuracy when entering tight corners. By the time of release, Nosram continues to use its well-known system for trackside adjustments with push buttons, with no need to use a separate programming unit. The Nosram HD speed control series however is designed to support external programming device which is planned to be offered later on.
