Michal Milanowicz wins at Polish Nationals Rd1

Michal Milanowicz wins at Polish Nationals Rd1

Round one of the Polish Electric On-road Nationals was held at the large outdoor asphalt track in Pacanow. The high-speed track has some difficulties in the form of bumpy turns and Michal Milanowicz made the best out of the conditions, taking the TQ in the Formula class from Patryk Jez who was hot on Michal’s heels in the qualifiers. In the A-mains, run on Sunday, Michal was able to take the win in A1 but A2 would be a tougher task as in the opening stages Michal’s car lacked some grip which meant he had to drive very carefully. But with some clever driving Milanowiczw was able to bring home the win to secure the overall victory early. A3 then saw Michael spinning right at the start, letting him drop down the field. Pushing his car to the limits though allowed him to recover and to take another win to top off a perfect weekend. Behind Michael, Patryk Jez would take the runner-up spot from third placed Tomasz Kursa.

Formula win for Martijn van der Heijden at Dutch Nats

The second round of the Dutch Electric On-road National Championship was held at the HFCC track in The Hague. Following a nice and dry Saturday the drivers woke up to rain and a cloudy sky on Sunday. Thankfully the rain stopped soon but the two opening qualifiers were still run in wet conditions. Only the third round could be considered dry and in the Formula class Martijn van der Heijden (Xray) made the best out of the conditions as he would take a dominate TQ some two laps ahead of Xray team mates Daniël Jansma and Arnold van Bezuijen. Because the weather forecast wasn’t too promising the race organisers decided to quickly proceed with the finals following a short lunch break. With wins in A1 and A2 Martijn secured the overall win with one leg to spare. Some two minutes into A3 it started to rain again but this did not stop Martijn from taking another win, cementing his dominant performance this weekend. Behind him, Daniël Jansma and Arnold van Bezuijen completed the top 3 result.

Nejc Mihelic wins Austrian nitro on-road opener

The fast Sollenau track played host to the opening round of the Austrian Nitro On-road Championship with windy weather making for low-grip track conditions. 2016 sees a change in the race format with the introduction of a points system, like used at the ENS, with the TQ driver proceeding directly into the A-main while the second to fifth place drivers compete in the Superpole race to battle out the 2 spot on the grid. The qualifiers were dominated by Herfried Pucher who won three of the four qualifiers from Nejc Mihelic and Maximilian Hofer. The first to start the Superpole was Kurt Hubeny who had engine problems, followed by Alain Levy who had a very successful run. Maximillian Hofer did not manage to beat Alain’s lap time and Mihelic lost front belt before the start, meaning Alain joined Herfried in the final.
