2016 Serpent Asia Cup – Report

The recent 2016 Serpent Asia Cup was run along side the season finale of the Serpent GT Cup and held at the Hong Kong based TRC track. 52 drivers signed in for GT Modified class while over 100 entries were received for the GT RTR category. The Serpent Asia Cup then added two more classes to the special event in the form of the 1/10th Nitro Touring class and 1/8th Nitro on-road class. Current 1/10th Nitro Touring World Champion, Dominic Greiner as well as former IFMAR A-main finalist Takumi Matsuda made the trip as special guest as did Serpent’s Michael Salven and Billy Easton who raced in the 1/8th on-road and GT Modified class respectively. The Asia Cup also attracted driver from America, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippine, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. With more then 100 drivers all on Serpent chassis, the races were intense with a friendly atmosphere around the pit area.

Xtreme Aerodynamics New Generation body stiffeners

Xtreme Aerodynamics have released information on their New Generation body stiffener set. Developed in cooperation with top drivers such as Robert Pietsch and Simon Kurzbuch and made from genuine Lexan material, the newly designed stiffeners are specifically moulded to perfectly match all Xtreme Aerodynamics 1/8th scale body shells. The parts come laser-cut meaning they are usable instantly and plastic rivets are supplied in the set so that the only work required is to drill a couple of 3mm holes in both the body and the stiffener, and to snap the rivets in place. As an add-on the set also includes an adjustable wing with plastic screws and nuts.

Sanwa SRG-LS Black low-profile brushless servo

Schumacher Racing, Sanwa distributor in the UK, have introduced the SRG-LS Black low-profile brushless servo. The SSR and High Response mode compatible digital servo features a full metal gear train, double ball bearings, 2-cell HV-compatibility and it comes with a black-colour aluminium middle heatsink. At 7.4V input the SRG-LS pulls up to 12.8kg-cm at a speed of down to 0.08s, making it ideal for 1/10th touring and 2WD buggy applications.

Roche Rapide P12-2017 1/12th scale pan car kit

UK Roche distributor Zen Racing has released first images and information on the Rapide P12-2017 1/12th scale pan car kit. The car builds on the 2016 IFMAR World Championships and ROAR Nationals winning car and it utilises a newly designed 2.5mm carbon fibre chassis and rear power pod plate. Other areas that received a make over are the floating servo plate, the front lower aluminium bulkheads, the rear alloy chassis brace and the low centre of gravity motor mount. The rear centre top plates also are of a new design to accommodate the Rolling Friction Adjust System RFAS and included in the kit are furthermore a new big bore centre shock and new diff and clamping wheel hubs that allow the use of M2.5x8mm screws. The kit is rounded out by redesigned alloy side spring mounts and aluminium steering turnbuckles. More information and images should become available in time for the release.

Vesa Yli wins at Finnish 12Track Tour Rd1

Aanekoski R/C center, near Jyvaskyla, Finland, hosted the first round in a series of four national championship races, the 12Track Tour. The hosting club did a great job organizing their first-ever 1/12th nats to showcase the 30x16m track’s technical layout. Classes were 1/12th Mod 6.5 blinky, Stock 13.5, run with GT bodies, and a Formula class. Vesa Yli took three out of four qualifying rounds to take the TQ ahead of Ari-Pekka Kyykka, followed by Panu Vehniainen in third. Vesa managed to lead from wire to wire in all three mains to take the victory home from the opening round. The order remained the same in top three as in qualifying. The series will continue the first weekend of February in Eurajoki, with rounds three and fourto be raced at a double event in Oulu at the end of February.

EWS International 2017 – Announcement

The Essex Winter Series team have announced the 2017 EWS International event. Formerly known as the ICC, now re-named in line with their well-known EWS series of races, the event will take place over the weekend of 31 March to 02 April 2017, at EWS’s popular venue in the south-east of the UK. An ETS-carpet track covering 24×34 metres will greet racers, with classes for Modified and Super Stock 13.5 Touring Car, plus a Formula class. The event looks to grown on previous years, with race teams and international drivers from Infinity, Tonisport and Awesomatix already confirmed to attend. ProTek Silicon Graphene HV LiPo batteries

ProTek have introduced their new Silicon Graphene HV LiPo battery packs. Made from 100C LiHV cells the packs offer a lower internal resistance and improved efficiency which results in lower operation temperatures, better runtimes, increased voltage and doubled charge cycles. Ideal for 17.5 racers the batteries are lighter and can be charged at rates up to 10C and they available are ten different configurations to support all popular forms of electric R/C racing. There are three shorty packs, a new low CG touring car pack, as well as several 4S and 2S stick packs.

Fenix Extra Mile High oil & Black Syrup grease

Fenix Racing have two new chemicals available in the form of the Extra Mile High ball bearing oil and Black Syrup thrust bearing grease. Starting with the oil, the chemical is a genuine aircraft-grade lubricant, usually used in high-speed turbines. The synthetic oil is oxidation and corrosion inhibited and shows great stability in low and high temperatures. It comes in a 10ml bottle with needle applicator for precise application. Also new is the high-grade Moly-based Black Syrup thrust bearing grease. It is ideal for all high-pressure applications and thus not only usable with thrust races but also driveshafts, gears and more. Last but not least comes a 12ml syringe with curved tip that can be filled with your choice of oils or greases. The curved applicator helps to easily rear almost any area of an RC car.
