2019 Manufacturers Cup – Report

The 2019 Manufacturers Cup was held at Amain’s California-based Silver Dollar R/C Raceway last weekend, attracting most of the country’s swift off-road racers. Overall entries were over 200 and people were genuinely excited to run their cars on the killer track at Silver Dollar R/C Raceway. What a race it was in the Pro Nitro Buggy class as the two Arizona’s best went head to head. Mugen’s Ryan Maifield was dominant on day 1, but Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin up’d his game on Sunday and was able to beat out Maifield on the tie-breaker when it came down to best score. Since both drivers had identical results of two wins and one 2nd place finish, the tie-breaker came down to single fastest run with Spencer taking the win. Mugen’s Adam Drake came in 3rd with a total of 9 points.

Corner Speed RC O-ring grease

Corner Speed RC has introduced a new non-harmful clay-based grease for use on shock and diff O-rings and gaskets. It is a premium lubricating grease which has been carefully formulated to create dynamic lubrication between O-rings and metal parts that allows smoother operation as well as minimising leakage. Unlike other silicone-based grease which slightly swells the O-rings and rubber parts, this lube is a clay-based product which is known for being more gentle on the rubber parts for more consistent operation.

Mini RallyX Nordic Cup – Report

With full scale rally cars and cross karts as backdrop, Black Track RC held their first Mini RallyX Nordic Cup this past weekend at Motorsport Nordjylland, Denmark. Featuring the Traxxas Ford Fiesta ST Rally cars straight from the box, the cup is both affordable and challenging for drivers of any skill level as the class is locked to stock electronics including the transmitter. Erik Pedersen took a hard-fought TQ over Per Eriksen in the qualifying rounds and Dennis Falk taking a solid 3rd. It was a really close race in the first main but small mistakes from Pedersen gave Eriksen the win. In leg 2, Pedersen lost his rhythm letting Eriksen sail to the lead, which he held all the way to the checkered flag giving him the overall #1 spot and Pedersen 2nd. Dennis Falk kept his 3rd through out the mains leaving rookie drivers Søren Pedersen and young William Vinther battling for 4th and 5th. Between heats spectators got a chance at racing with the Traxxas cars as the club has seven kits they rent out at events to help promote the sport. At the end of the day the drives from both full scale and RC were celebrated at the podium. The club will be hosting the final round of the Danish nationals for 10th scale electric 2WD, 4WD and Stadium Truck in August.

Arrowmax Diff Checker

Arrowmax have added a differential hardness checker to their electronics line up. The small and compact device allows to measure the hardness of both gear and ball differentials which makes diff setup easier and more precise. Other than checking the differential setting the tool can also be used to pre-warm diffs before a run, which makes for better consistency. The device features a 5-digit decimal display, it is housed in a sturdy case and utilises a built-in Micro USB port for charging. The diff checker comes with both a standard outdrive insert and a 7mm nut driver adapters for touring car usage. Optionally available is a set of 1/8th buggy and GT adapters.

Tamiya introduce SW-01 option parts

Coming soon from Tamiya are three option parts for their all-new SW-01 mini stunt chassis. First up is an upper arm connector bar set made from fibre glass. The items will connect the front and rear axles for all-wheel steering capabilities. Using the parts will enable the ability to steer the rear wheels even during wheelies while also countering traction rolling. Also new is an 8-piece set of suspension springs. Included are colour-coded soft and hard springs that help to adapt the suspension hardness to various track conditions. Last but not least comes a full ball bearing set containing a total of 20 ball races that improve drivetrain precision and efficiency. All of the above sets will hit stores in August.

Xray X1’19 wheelbase adjustment carbon fibre chassis

Coming from Xray and made for their X1’19 formula car are a new chassis and top deck that allow to access a total of three wheelbase settings. The chassis features additional mounting positions for the front end, which allows to move the whole suspension more forward to extend the wheelbase of the car. The full backward position is identical to the original X1 chassis wheelbase, while the other two extra positions extends the wheelbase of the car by 4 and 8mm respectively. The longer wheelbase setting result in a more stable and easier to drive car, however the longer wheelbase decreases car response, rotation and steering. Thus the shorter wheelbase is recommended for smaller technical tracks while the longer creates stability for more open tracks. Included with the chassis comes a matching top deck.
