Active Hobby alloy wing mounts & steel droop plates

Active Hobby alloy wing mounts & steel droop plates

Active Hobby from Japan have introduced a set of aluminium touring car wing mounts and steel droop plates. Starting with the wing mounts, they utilise “diamond-shape” upper plates as well as oval counter plates to sandwich the rear wing and the body’s wing stay in order to improve rigidity and durability at high speeds and in the event of a crash. Two different screw mounting holes in the counter plates allow to easy shift the wing forth and back by 4.5mm to fine-tune the aerodynamics. The wing mounts are available in the four colours of red, blue, black and silver and they include mounting hardware. Also new is a 4-piece set of steel plates to protect carbon fibre touring car chassis in the droop screw area. The 0.5mm thin plates weigh in at 0.8g each, they sport a diameter of 8mm and are best attached using thin double sided tape or CA glue. Using them protects the delicate carbon fibre surface from becoming damaged by the droop grub screws.

JConcepts Fin style serrated 17mm wheel nuts

JConcepts Fin style serrated 17mm wheel nuts

Coming from JConcepts are the Fin styled serrated 17mm wheel nuts for 1/8th scale off-road vehicles and GT cars. These high-precision wheel nuts are flanged and knurled for locking security and feature a closed end to protect from dirt and debris build-up in the axle or hub. Completely CNC-machined, the large flange and clamping surface area supports the wheel and helps maintain geometry during flex and load. The larger area also provides more footing for the serrated area which provides a more comfortable lock-down. Cutting weight was accomplished by reducing material sections in unneeded areas, in addition, the nut is sliced removing even more bulk and adding a “Fin” like appearance. The wheel nuts come in sets of four and in blue or black colour.

Serpent Eryx 4.0 carbon fibre & aluminium chassis

Serpent Eryx 4.0 carbon fibre & aluminium chassis

Coming from Serpent are three different main chassis plates for the Eryx 4.0 touring car. First up is a 2.0mm carbon fibre chassis that is working well on both asphalt and carpet tracks. It helps to generate a good amount of rear traction and a bit less steering and it also comes in handy to avoid traction rolling on super high-bite tracks. Also available is a 2.25mm carbon fibre chassis for asphalt racing. It helps to gain steering and response on the expense of a slightly nervous and edgy car behaviour. Last but not least is a 2.0mm aluminium chassis for the use on carpet tracks. It makes for a lower centre of gravity and less traction rolling while keeping a good balance between steering response and an easy to drive car.
