All equal as ETS resumes at new Austrian venue

ETS_Rheinard

With the opening two races producing different winners and those drivers now sharing the lead at the top of the Volante Modified class standings, the Yokomo Euro Touring Series resumes this weekend after a six week break. Round 3 will present somewhat of a neutral ground for the resumption of the championship battle as the ETS makes its first visit to Wels, Austria. Taking over the date previously filled by the Euro Offroad Series at the Modellbau Wels hobby show, this year over 20,000 vistors will be treated to seeing the World’s best touring car drivers battle it out for glory. The final indoor race of the ETS’ ninth season, Tamiya’s Marc Rheinard and Xray’s Bruno Coelho will be looking to wrap up the first half of the season with a points advantage over their rival.

Nejc Mihelič wins TopRC Track Masters Rd1

Nejc Mihelič wins TopRC Track Masters Rd1

The first round of TopRC Track Masters 2016 was held in Cervignano, Italy in dry and nice weather all weekend. Nejc Mihelič took the TQ in the 1/8th nitro on-road class following by Jernej Vuga and Herfried Pucher. In the main A final we saw different tyre and pitting strategies among the favourites. Mihelic made an early mistake and had a coming together with another driver, which allowed Vuga to lead by a few seconds over Mihelic and Pucher. Pucher’s strategy to refuel one more time and only change the outside tires came to an end when he had a coming together with another driver. Mihelic did a very fast full tyre change meaning he had to come back from a full lap and a few seconds while Vuga took the risk with no tyre change. Mihelic’s strategy paid off in the last minute by overtaking Vuga. It was Nejc Mihelič (ARC/Picco) who took the win and the best lap of the weekend, closely followed by Vuga and Stefano Restivo.

Thanks to Nejc Mihelič for the report.
