Xray Racing Series Poland Rd3 – Report

The third round of the Xray Racing Series Poland took place last weekend. The race was considered the biggest indoor event in Poland and it attracted 170 drivers in total to race on a high-grip EOS carpet track. The layout was pretty fast with quick jumps and the race attracted some special guests such as Michal Orlowski, Jörn Neumann and Adam Izsay with all three showing some crazy fast laps. The race was held in six different classes including 1/14th scale open with the smaller buggies and trucks doing really good on the 1/10th scale track. In the 2WD and 4WD Modified classes the pace was set by Michal Orlowski (Schumacher) in the qualifiers, however come the finals, Jörn Neumann (Schumacher) stepped up his game and took the wins in both classes. Behind Michal it was Bartłomiej Kramża (Schumacher) who would round out the 2WD Modified top 3.

PHub Magic Grip on-road traction compound

Coming from PHub is their new “pink” Magic Grip traction compound for on-road rubber tyres. Tested by top-level drivers like Ronald Völker, David Ronnefalk and Viljami Kutvonen the tyre sauce will offer the highest possible traction without having to fear traction rolling. It is usable on a wide range of track conditions, ranging from low to high grip with the overall amount of grip available being adjusted by the application time before run. Applied ten minutes before a run the traction compound is is ideal for high-grip tracks while extending the application time to 20 minutes will make it suitable for low grip tracks. The tyre sauce comes in handy 60ml bottles and it is available from this weekend’s DHI Cup in Denmark.

Infinity IF18 optional long muffler stay

Infinity has released a new optional Long Muffler Stay for their World Championship winning IF18. To cater for the variety of exhaust/manifold lengths and shapes available to racers, it is 10mm longer than the original kit muffler stay.

PR Racing S1v3 alloy Ackermann plate set

PR Racing have introduced their new “rear shifted” aluminium Ackermann plate set for the S1v3 platform. Thanks to an optimised steering geometry the steering will feel less aggressive which can be a benefit in several track conditions. The plate offers two different mounting positions for the inner steering link ball studs and it comes including mounting hardware.

HB Racing sign Elias Johansson

HB Racing have announced the addition of their latest factory team member, Swedish talent Elias Johansson. Elias joins the team in time for the first important race of the year, this weekend’s 2019 DHI Cup in Denmark. The former Team Associated driver says:

I’m happy to announce that I will run the HB Racing cars starting with the DHI Cup for 2019 and beyond. Big thanks to Adrien Bertin and all the HB Racing team for giving me the opportunity to join such a successful brand. Looking forward to race these new cars. Learning, testing and meeting all race-friends will be my task with hopes to get race wins and titles.

Tamiya 2-piece 5-spoke wheel set

Coming from Tamiya is a new 2-piece 5-spoke wheel set for 1/10th on-road kits. Consisting of chromed 26mm wide wheels and 5-spoke inserts, the construction allow to run the rims in a +2mm or a +4mm off-set configuration, enabling modellers to simply adjust the car’s overall width without using hex adapter shims. The set includes two rims and the needed mounting hardware and the wheels are usable with most 25mm and 26mm rubber tyres.

Muchmore Diff Analyzer

Muchmore have introduced their new Diff Analyzer device, a tool to measure the hardness of gear and ball differentials. The handy tool is powered by any regular USB output and it was designed to measure the hardness of 1/8th, 1/10th and 1/12th scale diffs by simply connecting the device with the diff outdrive or diff hub, locking the main or diff gear and then hitting the analyzer’s power button. The 5 digit high precision display displays the diff hardness, allowing to measure and compare hardnesses to ensure the most accurate diff action. The device measures 86x38x28.5mm, it weighs in at 84.3g and it requires an additional micro 5-pin USB cable for operation.

Kyle McBride leaves Team Associated

Multi-time Australian National Champion and IFMAR World A-main finisher, Kyle McBride has announced his departure from Team Associated and Reedy. With the iconic US brand since 2015, Kyle has achieved four national championships and three Worlds A-main finishes during that stint, but he will not continue with the company for 2019. In a statement on social media Kyle had the following to say:

As 2018 has ended up and we are now early into 2019… I’d like announce to everyone that I will no longer be continuing with Team Associated/Reedy. It is very bitter sweet but I just want to take this time to go back and look at how much I achieved with Team Associated and how much they supported me through my racing career from 2015 through to 2018. Together we managed 4 National Australia Championships, 2 x 1/8th IFMAR world championship final positions and 1x 1/10th scale World Championship final position, which was most first 1/10th Worlds A Final. And that’s just a few to say the least…

I really can’t thank the entire of Team Associated enough, and all of the amazing people I met along the way. Brent Thielke, Richard Saxton, Kody Numedahl, Shawn Ireland, Rick Howard, Nick Wautlet and my team mates Ryan Cavalieri, Spencer Rivkin and so many more awesome people! I’m super appreciative of how much you guys looked after me and my dad and the amount of things we learnt whilst working together! I’ll never forget all of it. I really look forward to the upcoming year and what my future holds in racing, stay tuned for what’s next.
