Yokomo BD9 touring car – Pre-production prototype images

Yokomo have recently announced the forthcoming release of their all-new BD9 electric touring car and now the Japanese company has released first images of the pre-production car. The makes a first public appearance during this week’s Asian Onroad Championship finale, held at Yokomo’s Yatabe Arena home track. As expected the kit is a near complete redesign, starting with the chassis, bulkheads, the driveline, suspension components, shock towers, shocks and even the servo mount and bumper being completely new. Noticeable updates from the BD8 series car include ball-raced anti-roll bars, new-design upper bulkhead caps and camber link plates, reshaped A-arms, and the drivetrain now again sandwiches the spur gear. Full information will become available in time for the release that is scheduled for this Fall. Update: In the meantime more images became available, highlighting some of the car’s design features.

3rd annual King of Carpet race – Report

RC Raceway recently held its 3rd annual King of Carpet Off-Road Radio Control Championship. The 2-day event brought in some of the fastest racers from around the United States to compete for the prestigious title King of Carpet. When the dust had settled it was Blake Champlin with the TQ and win in the Expert 2WD Buggy class with Broc Champlin coming in 2nd. Frank Root would round out the podium in 3rd after the three A-main events.

Tasos Paparegas wins Northern Greek regionals Rd3

The third round of the Northern Greek Nitro Buggy regionals was held recently in Thessaloniki. In the main final Tasos Paparegas (Xray) was able to pull away quite easily and he brought home the win in front of Radiosistemi driver, Nukos Grigoriadis as Xray’s Ioannis Paparegas rounded out the top 3 results.

Capricorn LAB C8SR rear ride height adjusters

Coming from Capricorn and made for their LAB C8SR 1/8th electric pan car are ride height adjuster shims. The metal spacers are 0.5mm thick and they allow for a more precise adjustment of the ground clearance when using different tyre diameters.

Singapore RCMC Nitro Buggy Championship – Report

Lap Paradise Raceway hosted the final round of the Singapore RCMC 1/8 Nitro Buggy National Championship last weekend. Wonderful weather greeted a total of 45 drivers that attended the race which included the three classes of 1/8th Buggy, Truggy and E-Buggy. Defending Champion Joe Hwee (HB Racing/O.S./AKA) seemed to be in good form as he claimed TQ after topping all the three qualifying rounds. Fadzil (Mugen/O.S./PL) who recently showed good pace during the FEMCA races managed to put in a clean run in Q3 to claim P2 while Wenyi (Mugen/O.S./PL) and Ah Leng (Mugen/Mugen/AKA) managed to qualify 3rd and 4th and Young Gun Danial (Kyosho/O.S./PL) qualified 5th.

3rd annual Full Throttle Championship – Report

The Full Throttle Championship took place last recently with the largest classes being USGT and 17.5 Sedan. The Banana Raceway is a smaller track of CRC black carpet glued to a wood subfloor inside a well-lit and climate-controlled building. This year’s race was the third instalment of this event and attracted drivers from around Texas, LA and OK. The 3-day schedule following a rocket round format allowed for practice all day Friday with three qualifiers on Saturday, an LCQ on Sunday followed by AAA mains. The tight layout was installed Thursday night and rewarded drivers who kept up with their setups as the grip transitioned from low on Friday to medium-high grip by Sunday afternoon. The premier Modified Sedan class was dominated by Chris Adams, Andrew Doherty and Steve Breuer securing the top 3 qualifying positions respectively and earning the same top 3 finishing positions.

Jared Phair doubles at Crispy Critters opener

Crispy Critters recently had their season opener race and with a fresh layout, there was a surprising amount of grip already in the track, and it got progressively higher as the track was more broken in. Jared Phair took a double TQ and would also win both the 2WD Buggy and 4WD Buggy classes with Stephen Maizer coming in 2nd in both categories. Barry Goodwin and Ken Lee would round out the 2WD and 4WD podium respectively.

P.Y. Tang wins XRS Indonesia

The 2018 XRS Indonesia was held at Sunter International Speedway recently in a single 13.5T Touring Blinky class. To make the race more enjoyable the organisers customised the layout with a tight chicane and some fast sweepers so all drivers could optimise the motor power with their car setups. Racers from cities around Indonesia and Singapore participated in this last leg of the South East Asia XRS Series. Ultimately it was P. Y. Tang who took the overall TQ and eventually also took the overall win with M. Izza Karunia and Christian Abang completing the podium.
