Schumacher Winter Series Rd1 – Report

This past weekend saw the running of the first round of the Schumacher Winter Series presented by the Louth Radio Control Car Club. The series, format and rules remained the same from the previous year, with the emphasis on racing whatever the budget. This year the classes remained the same 13.5 Blinky, 17.5 Open Touring, GT12 and the introduction of the Tamiya Euro Trucks. 60 entrants for the first round is a club record, as drivers rolled in for an action packed day of racing. In 13.5 Blinky no reigning champion for this Season left a level playing field. Chris Lovely was in control until traffic would hold his way, Nathan Winyard would jump him to take TQ. Andrew Green would line up 3rd, with Joe Cocking, Mikey Mansell, Lisa Keen and Daniel Burks making the A-main.

APPA Championship Rd5 – Report

The 5th round of the 2018 APPA Championship was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil last weekend, attracting both nitro and electric drivers to compete in several classes. In 1/8th Nitro On-road it was Felix Floriano (Mugen/Gimar) with the win from Kazuo Ohara (Kyosho/O.S. Engines) and Roberto Nunes (Mugen/Novarossi).

Maxima have announced the soon release of their new Mx TR1 .12 nitro on-road engine. The power plant comes factory modified and tuned for best possible performance and it will be available for the European market after the IFMAR 1/10th Nitro Touring World Championships that start today in Miami, Florida.

Novarossi Mephisto.21 3.5cc off-road engine

Coming soon from Novarossi is their new Mephisto.21 3.5cc nitro off-road engine. The square stroke power plant is of a 4-port design for linear power output and low fuel consumption and it features a DLC-coated crankshaft, the new R4/18 conrod for improved durability, a three-needle carburettor and an O-ring-sealed combustion camber insert. Also part of the features list is a steel-filled rear cover for reduced friction and improved durability ad well as a new cooling head for improved airflow and cooling and an optimised centre of gravity. The engine will become available as standard variant with front and rear steel bearings and also as ceramic variant with steel front and ceramic rear ball race.

Pro-Line Mud-Terrain T/A & Krawler T/A tyres

Coming from Pro-Line are two new 1.9” off-road truck tyres in the form of the Class 1 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 and BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX Red Label Predator rock terrain tyres. Starting with the KM3, it is BFGoodrich’s Off-Road Maximum Traction tyre with aggressive tread lugs that bite into loose or muddy surfaces and climb over slippery rocks. Based on the BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX symmetric tread design, the Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 features deep, self-cleaning independent tread blocks and linear transverse flex zones to provide the grip that you need to get over the toughest obstacles. The tyre is moulded from G8 compound and it fits most 1.9” crawler wheels.

Xray Racing Series Slovakia Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Xray Racing Series Slovakia was held at the Hudy Racing Arena in Trencin last weekend. The event was held in several electric off-road and on-road classes and in 2WD Mod Buggy it was a pretty close affair between Martin Bayer and Kaja Novotny and eventually the overall TQ went to Martin. Kaja was starting from the 2 spot with Max Gotzl on the 3 spot on the grid. In the A-mains it was smooth sailing for Martin who brought home the win from Kaja 2nd – the latter having the pace for more but mishaps did prevent him from challenging Martin. Max Gotzl completed the podium in 3rd for an all-Xray 1-2-3 after some close fights with Matus Benetin and Bartek Kramza.
