Borja Hernandez wins finale in Fuencarral

The final round of the Spanish 1/8th Nitro Buggy National Championship was held this past weekend in Fuencarral. With the absence of Robert Batlle (Mugen), who already secured the championship, it was time for the “best of the rest” to show their skills and to score maximum points for the championship. Oscar Baldo (Mugen) soon made his ambitions clear by taking the TQ after the qualifiers and he would also start from pole position into the final. Borja Hernandez (Mugen) had other plans though as it was him and SWorkz’ Andres Marcelino who battled for the lead for a good part of the 45 minute final and at the end Borja took the win only 1.3 seconds on front of Andres. Behind the two Oscar Navarro (Serpent) completed the podium in 3rd.

Mike Truhe doubles at Octoberfest Race

This weekend was the Octoberfest Race held at Central Valley Raceway in Madera, CA. The event attracted a good turnout with some very fast guys also showing up including Austin Blair, Tyler Vic and Phillip Atondo. Mike from CVR put in an awesome layout and at the end it was Serpent’s Mike Truhe who took the TQ and win in both the 1/8th Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes.

AKA Double Play 7mm & 5.5mm nut driver

AKA’s Double Play nut driver creatively lightens the toolbox by putting a 7mm and 5.5mm wrench in one. The 7mm driver fits metric wheel nuts found on most popular 1/10th scale buggies and short course trucks, while the 5mm driver is common for shock nuts and most nuts on metric 1/8th scale cars. The machined aluminium handle and sleeve provides weight reduction over standard steel tools with the added durability of a hard-anodised finish. The tool become available by end of October.

1st Annual Kyosho America Masters – Announcement

The 1st Annual Kyosho America Masters will be held from December 12th to 14th at RC Tracks Las Vegas. The first ever Kyosho Masters event on U.S. soil will be run in 1/8th scale Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and sees the attendance of international stars such as Australia’s Kyle McBride, UK’s Elliott Boots or Japan’s Yuichi Kanai who will battle it out with American drivers such as World Champions Cody King and Jared Tebo. Saturday night will see a banquet that is open for all participants. The event is open for all Kyosho Inferno drivers and the recommended pre-registration can be done via Joe Pillars (joepillars@hotmail.com).

Jerome Aigoin joins Team Orion

French front runner and national 1/8th scale champion, Jerome Aigoin will use Team Orion electric components in his E-Buggy 2015 campaign, the Swiss company announce. Jerome will be using the company’s 1/8th scale speed controllers, brushless motors, LiPo battery packs and chargers to power his cars in the coming season.

Team Orion Connect USB Link software

Team Orion have a new USB Link software for the use with their Vortex R-series speed controllers available for download. The new release allows to program, update and increase the functionality of the speed controller and it features an improved user interface along with the ability to import, export and print the ESC settings. As always each new release contains all the previously released ESC firmware updates. Also included is a new Stock motor firmware for the R10Pro and R10.1Pro as well as an update for the older DSB-R program box to work with the R8X speedo. Last but not least does the update include speedo setup sheets of factory Team Orion drivers such as Ty Tessman, Dakota Phend, Ryan Cavalieri, Ryan Mayfield, Frank Root and European Champion Jörn Neumann. The software, that only works with Windows PCs, is available for download here (Zip file).

Avid’s popular wing mount buttons are now also available in a red colour version. Offering a low profile design the CNC-machined aluminium parts sport a large diameter to keep 1/10th buggy wings as well as highly stressed touring car wings in place even at high speeds which results in improved aerodynamic efficiency. The red anodised buttons come laser-etched and work on all cars with M3 wing mount screws.

The Chain Link is the latest addition to the AKA’s 1/10 Evo line of buggy tyres. It features a bi-level, interlocking tread pattern that creates support for the tyre’s carcass and treads. This addition support leads to consistency through corners and provides on-throttle stability to give a good balance of forward drive and side bite which is ideal for hard packed or blue groove, indoor and outdoor tracks. Available in clay, super soft, and soft compound as tyres with red Evo inserts or pre -mounted pairs on Evo wheels.
