Maifield from Larsen in 2nd JConcepts 2WD qualifier

Having suffered a ‘hurting’ opening qualifier in 2WD Buggy at the JConcepts Indoor National Series, Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield produced the fastest time of the day around the HobbyTown USA Hobby Plex track in Omaha to top Q2 from Q1 Top Qualifier Taylor Larsen. Having failed to make the Top 10 in Q1, Maifield topped the second round by 2.365 seconds with team-mate Hartson completing the Top 3 who were the only drivers of the weekend’s biggest class to run 14-lap times.

Larsen tops opening 2WD Buggy qualifier in Omaha

Team Losi Racing’s Taylor Larsen TQ’d the opening round of 2WD Buggy qualifying at the JConcepts Indoor National Series Finals in Omaha, setting the fastest and only 14-lap run around the HobbyTown USA Hobby Plex track in front of  team-mate JR Mitch. Once again it was not a good round for the series main contenders with Dustin Evans only able for fourth, Steven Hartson seventh and Ryan Maifield not even making the Top 10.

Gibson takes first JConcepts 4WD Buggy qualifier

17-year-old Team Associated driver Nick Gibson was a surprise pace setter in the opening round of 4WD Buggy qualifying at the JConcepts Indoor National Series in Omaha, Nebraska, setting the pace from TLR’s JR Mitch with young talent Aydrin Horne completing the Top 3.  For the series main contenders it was a bad start to the day as World Champion Steven Harston broke, Ryan Maifield suffered a drive train failure and Dustin Evans had the ‘worst first lap of (his) life’ that cost him 9-seconds.

Picco P-Max .21 Revo & T-Maxx nitro engine

Picco introduce their new P-Max .21 nitro engine for the Traxxas Revo and T-Maxx. The newly designed engine features a more efficient cooling head, a knife edge shaped connecting rod, silicone-filled crankshaft and a new crankshaft timing making for improved power output comparable to the larger .26 and .28 engines. The engines that was developed in cooperation with Picco-Torque U.S. distributors Kevco Racing easily adapts to Traxxas’ Easy Start and pull start engines and it features a 3-port hard-chromed liner, CNC-machined billet piston, a turbo combustion camber insert and a 13mm main bearing.

JConcepts Indoor Nats arrives in Nebraska for '13 Finals

The JConcepts Indoor National Series has arrived at the fifth & final stop on its 2013 calendar with HobbyTown USA Hobby Plex in Omaha, Nebraska, playing host to the ‘Finals’ of the popular electric offroad championship.  Attracting a competitive entry, including newly crowned World Champion Steven Hartson, day 1 of the 3-day event is an opportunity for drivers to work on set-up with open practice being split between open wheel cars and Short Course.  With most of the top drivers focusing their attentions on running their 2WD buggies, it is tyre choice and preparation that is keeping them busy so far.

Matt Olson joins Schumacher

Matt Olson joins Schumacher

Schumacher announce the addition of top US racer Matt Olson to the team. Matt has a fantastic history of race wins in the US and is sure to be at the front of the field with his new cars. Matt is employed by MIP and Schumacher Racing will have some MIP option parts for their own cars in the near future. Matt had the following to say about the deal:

I would like to thank Schumacher Racing’s Mark Musgrove and Robin Schumacher for the opportunity to be a part of their 2014 International team. Specially made for 1/10th touring cars is this low-profile digital servo from Core RC. The servo features metal gears, a heatsink case and pulls 9.6kg-cm of torque at 0.09s. It includes a range of servo horns and mounting hardware and is ideal for crowed applications such as touring cars and also 2WD buggies.

Bullivant wins 4WD at West Bridgeford Winter Series

The third round of the Schumacher West Bridgeford Winter Series took place at the indoor carpet track located just outside of Nottingham. The format of the day was two 3 minute practice rounds in heats followed by four rounds of qualifying of which two count and at the end one final leg. In 4WD the top 4 cars all took a round of qualifying, with James Bullivant (Xray) taking TQ with a quicker time over Daniel Austin (Team Durango) in second, Mark Thornewill (Xray) in third and Abi Bullivant (Xray) in fourth. The final was a close affair at the start, a couple of small mistakes by the front runners allowed James to put the hammer down and drive away tone to tone. Behind James, Abi had taken up 2nd position to which she would hold followed by Marc and Daniel who had a close race towards the end.
