The opening race of the newly built nitro off-road track near Izmir, Turkey, attracted nearly 30 racers to compete in the 1/8th nitro buggy, truggy and E-buggy classes. The nitro buggy category saw Ahmet Demirel taking the win in front of Nebi Akgün and Tolga Yilmaz while the E-buggy class win went to Alain Sarafyan who was sidelined by Taner Kaya and Cengiz Gökbulut on the podium.

Pro-Line have extended their already impressive range of 1/8 buggy tyres by several compound variants and pre-mounts. The Blockade, Bow-Tie 2.0 and Big Blox thread now additionally come in the super soft X4 compound as tyre only or pre-mounted on white Velocity disc wheels. Also new in the X4 range are the Hole Shot 2.0, Ion and Diamond Back all of which come as tyre only. Additionally the Hole Shot 2.0 will become available as soft X3 compound for warmer ambient temperatures or for the use on higher traction surfaces.

Pro-Line have three new off-road body shells available in the form of the SC-compatible Desert Raid as well as two Ford F-100 bodies. Starting with the Desert Raid, it is modelled after the prototype SU vehicles used at endurance rallies such as the Dakar and it fits many of today’s short course trucks such as the Pro-2 SC, the Slash 2WD and 4×4 as well as the SC10. Mounting the body requires the use of extended body mounts and you can even dare to race it as Flo-Tek air escape vents reduce the so called parachute effect often associated with this type of body shell. The body comes clear, includes window masks and a decal sheet.

Speed Passion have announced the addition of talented Polish driver Michal Orlowski to their factory team. Having already used the company’s products for a number of years as a privateer and he will now receive full factory support for his upcoming off-road and on-road campaigns. This is what Michal has to say about the deal:

Horizon Hobby introduce the Losi Desert Buggy XL, a large scale 4WD RTR buggy. Based around the popular 5ive-T platform the nearly 800mm long 1/5 scale vehicle features a 4WD shaft drivetrain with fluid-filled differentials, a 4mm aluminium chassis, dual brake discs, huge aluminium threaded shock absorbers and a 23cc recoil starter gas engine. A detachable roll cage makes maintenance easy while waterproof electronics throughout make for go-everywhere-ability. Included in the set is a genuine Spektrum DX2E radio system with DSMR technology.

Pro-Line will be hosting a 4 day 1/8 Buggy RC Racing camp with Pro RC driver Ty Tessmann and his father and mechanic Gord, held at the Pro-Line test track in Banning, California from January 29th to February 1st. The participants profit from Ty’s and Gord’s vast amount of experience with both teaching everything you need to know for becoming a better builder and faster driver. 10 driver and mechanic teams will be accepted with 1 driver per team. Drivers with no mechanic are also welcomed. Savöx Germany introduce the waterproof SW-1210SG standard size servo. Actually being slightly taller than what is considered “standard size” the 42mm high servo offers 20kg-cm of torque and a speed of 0.15s at 6.0V input. It features metal gears and a coreless motor making it ideal for all heavy duty applications such as monster trucks and generally all cars where torque is needed over speed and the slightly taller case is not an issue.
