Phend TQ’s first round of Buggy at DNC

Team Losi Racing’s Dakotah Phend best mastered slick conditions at the Dirt Nitro Challenge to TQ the opening round of Buggy qualifying which saw drivers struggle with a track that has become highly polished. Phend topped the times by 3 seconds from Serpent’s Mike Truhe, the pair the only two drivers to complete 10-lap runs over the 7-minutes. For defending champion Ryan Maifield, who is running in the third fastest heat it was a terrible start to the event with him failing to finish the round after suffering an engine flame out. Last year’s Top Qualifier Jared Tebo also had a difficult opening heat, the Kyosho driver struggling with ice like conditions and only able to post the 19th fastest time.

Panther Ocelot 1/10th buggy rear tyre

Panther introduce the Ocelot, a 1/10th buggy rear tyre with an array of small and dense squared pins for high forward traction and a consistent side bite feel. Designed for both indoor and outdoor tracks the tread will excel in dusty to loamy conditions and is therefore available in Panther’s full range of compounds from medium soft to super soft including a special clay rubber for indoor tracks.

Updated RB on-road and off-road nitro fuel

French company RB introduce their updated nitro fuel range that is now mixed using the latest generation lubricants and additives for improved performance and reduced friction within the engine. The new viscosity optimises fuel consumption and improves the reliability at high pressures and temperatures. RB also did away with the orange colourant the fuel was known for to avoid any efficiency decreasing residue. The updated fuel is available in several 16% and 25% pre-running, buggy and on-road variants with a 30% buggy fuel being available also.

Tessmann is Truggy Top Qualifier at DNC

Defending Dirt Nitro Challenge Truggy Champion Ty Tessmann is Top Qualifier for Saturday’s A-Main at the Fear Farm. The HB ace topped the third & final qualifier from TLR young gun Dakotah Phend by 6/10ths of a second to post his second TQ run of the day. The only other potential threat to the Canadian securing pole position, Kyosho’s Jared Tebo set the third fastest time securing the former champion second overall on the grid with Phend set to start third.

Powerstar PM-1207LV low-profile servo

Powerstar soon have the PM-1207LV low-profile servo available. Coming in an all-alloy case the standard voltage servo offers a speed of up to 0.074s/60° and a torque of 12kg-cm – both at 6.0V input. The features include a digital circuitry and a brushless motor while the sturdy case design makes it ideal for on-road and off-road applications alike.

Exotek SRX-2 servo mounts & battery strap

Exotek have first option parts for the Serpent SRX-2 buggy available in the form of aluminium servo mounts and a carbon fibre battery strap. First up are the servo mounting brackets, machined from high quality aluminium the parts come in Serpent orange or glossy gun metal finish and replace the stock plastic mounts with a more rigid and cooler looking alternative. Also new is the Flite LiPo battery strap for the rear motor SRX-2. Weighting in at only 4.8g the carbon fibre part is not only over 5g lighter than the stock part but it also gives added clearance allowing to run the battery in a more forward position while mounting the speedo behind the battery for improved balance. The brace is usable with stock or aftermarket thumb screws.

Tebo narrowly takes Q2 of Truggy

Jared Tebo has TQ’d the second round of qualifying at the Dirt Nitro Challenge, the Kyosho driver topping the time sheets at the Fear Farm in Phoenix, Arizona, by the narrowest of margins from Q1 pace setter Ty Tessmann. Running in the second fastest heat, Tebo laid down a time of 10/7:22.247 with back to back champion Tessmann best of the runners in the top heat only able to get within .093 of the 2011 Champion. Mugen’s Carson Wernimont completed the Top 3.
