Xray XB4 1/10th 4wd buggy

Xray have officially announced their new 1/10th scale 4wd EP buggy platform, the XB4. The XB4 is the world’s first 1/10 off-road chassis incorporating the Multi-Flex adjustment technology, which allows tuning the chassis flex for different track conditions. It doesn’t matter if the track is low traction, medium or super high traction, you can adjust the chassis flex to suit the track conditions in a matter of seconds, and again adjust the flex easily when the conditions change. The revolutionary and unique chassis design merges a Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium backbone and composite chassis-plate which have been firmly mounted together to create a solid framework with each piece playing a distinctive role. The aluminium backbone provides the car with stability and stiffness, while allowing torsional flex along the lengthwise axis while the composite chassis absorbs vibrations and works as the main Multi-Flex element, allowing the changing of flex independently in the front and rear of the car.

Boots top seed for qualifying

Elliot Boots is the top seed for qualifying at the 1:8 Offroad World Championship which is scheduled to get underway in the morning but with heavy rain expected to arrive once again in Buenos Aires there is the strong possibility that we may see no action at all tomorrow. After a four hour delay to the start of racing today due to over night rain, the normal 2-minute practice run held after controlled practice to ensure the timing for the reseeded heats is correct was cancelled with track officials wanting to get the track covered before the arrival of the wet weather.

Boots tops first controlled practice

Kyosho’s Elliot Boots set the pace in the first controlled practice, the 19-year-old marginally faster than TLR’s Dakotah Phend over the timed 5-minutes run with 2008 World Champion Atsushi Hara posting the third fastest time.  Overnight rain and high winds in Buenos Aires resulted in a 4-hour delay to the start of Day 3 of the 1:8 World Championships as officials waited for the track, which again received a covering of wood shavings, to dry out. The high winds left Team Associated having to rebuild their pit area after the tents were a tangled mess when the team arrived at the track this morning.  Credit to Boots, JQ and Ryan Lee the three drivers getting stuck in to try to clear the heavy area of water from the track.

Hot Bodies D812 1/8th buggy

Hot Bodies introduce the D812 1/8th nitro competition buggy. This buggy embodies the latest refinements and improvements that have come directly from the HB racing team for the 2012-2013 racing season. Starting with the basis of the World Champion D8 buggy, and improving even on the Vice World Champion Hara Edition, the D812 improves the D8 in every way. Monocoque suspension arms allow to tune the suspension setup for extra flex, more stiffness or even added weights for a completely new feel to your driving. For faster acceleration and quicker in-air pitch control, the drivetrain gears are lighter. New CVD boots retain grease and keep out dirt that can sandblast your drive axles. Aluminium drive axles, caster blocks and rear hubs improve on the durability of the D8. A one-piece radio tray makes maintenance easy and quick, and the one-piece engine mount helps even more by allowing you to remove and re-insert the engine without having to re-set the gear mesh time after time.

Tasos Paparegas wins Greek national cup

The Greek National Cup took place at the Fanatix racing track near Athens. The one day event attracted many drivers from Greece and also JQ Products’ Joseph Quagraine but due to being a foreign guest driver he was not counted for the final result. The TQ was set by Kyosho/Orion driver Papanikolaou who has won not less then 13 races on the Fanatix track. In the A final Papanikolaou was leading in front of Tasos Paparegas and JQ in third place but mid-race Papanikolaou was halted by engine issues handing Tasos the lead. The latter was now in a battle with JQ who chased the Xray driver hard. The following minutes saw many lead changes between the two and they ended the race separated only by a second with Tasos Paparegas taking the win in front of John Paparegas and Zagorisos completing the top 3 as JQ was not counting for the final result.

Free Practice complete at World Championships

Free practice for the 1:8 Offroad World Championships in Argentina has been completed with the fastest lap of the fourth & final practice run being set by Ryan Lutz who posted a 44.039 lap followed by Lee Martin who managed a 44.056 and Jerome Aigoin who did a best lap of 44.235. Lutz said his prototype Durango was much better in the final practice after he ran a longer wheel base and switched to AKA Moto tyre which he said absorbed the bumps much better. The American didn’t finish the full run as having changed Alpha engines he said the tuning was too lean and it eventually stopped with 2 minutes to go.  While timing for each of today’s three 10-minute runs where published the times count for little more than a guide for the drivers, most of whom were focused more on testing set-ups for later in the week rather than being top of the timing sheets.
