Landén dominates Nordic 1:10 Offroad C/ships

This year’s Nordic 1:10 Offroad Championship was organised by MHF-U Skarpnäck at their Blue Hill track in Stockholm, Sweden, where Team Associated’s Alexander Landén dominated proceedings.  Direct from the get-go it was obvious that Swedish National Champion Landén was really on the pace in both classes, mainly challenged by Schumacher’s Elias Johnsson, the TLR of Ludwig Albertz and Alexander Gjemble also driving a Schumacher.  In 2WD Landén secured three out of four qualifiers to secure the overall TQ spot in front of Johansson and Albertz.  The finals got a bit interesting since the heavens opened and made the first finals completely wet.  Landén got it right with the wet setup and could continue in the same fashion and was able to secure the title with wins in A1 and A2.

Revolution Design Tungsten Battery Weights

New from Germany’s Revolution Design come these two Tungsten Battery Weights.  The Shorty Battery Weight is a precision-ground 0.5mm tungsten plate that adds 42 grams of ballast directly beneath any 95 mm shorty LiPo pack.  Because tungsten has a density of about 19.3 g/cm³—more than twice that of brass (≈ 8.5 g/cm³) and steel (≈ 7.8 g/cm³) – the plate can be less than half as thick as common 1–1.2 mm brass or steel alternatives.  The lower profile lets the battery sit roughly 0.7 mm deeper in the tray, dropping the car’s centre of gravity for crisper turn-in and more stable landings on high-grip tracks. Machined edges and a matte finish give the plate a premium look, while the raw tungsten resists corrosion without additional coatings.  Using the same 0.5 mm tungsten architecture as its shorty sibling, the full-length 2S stick pack Tungsten Battery Weight adds a concentrated 60 gram exactly where racers want it, under the LiPo and as low as mechanically possible.

JConcepts Injection Molded 1:8 Buggy Front Wings

Having unveiled its new option of injection molded front wing in the early part of the 2025 racing season, JConcepts ups the ante once again with their latest item bringing additional focus to an area of the vehicle that is overlooked.  The front of the vehicle is often covered with a nose cone or item which can be painted or decorated to match the body shell paint or scheme.  The front wings or scoops available in polycarbonate have since taken over providing some functional consideration to vehicle performance.  The polycarbonate versions are often left clear or scuffed, but with new injection molded option, many colours are available to match.  The durable nature of the material, the tall side dams built in conjunction with lower front lip gives the front-end benefits in high-speed turns, and sweeping sections.  On most vehicles, it simply attaches using an existing screw or set of screws located on the front-end. In some instances, it might be necessary to source a 3mm BHCS to accommodate or mount to a vehicle.  On the Xray models, it’s necessary to mount the bracket item to the shock tower first, then install and secure the JConcepts item to the new mounting bracket.  The new range of injection molded front wings covers Mugen, Team Associated, Tekno, Sworkz, and Xray.

Orlowski wins Euros Warm-up Race

Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski was the winner at the Euros Warm-up Race at the Dutch Raco2000 track in Ultrecht which will host the Electric Touring Car European Championships proper on August 22-24.  While the reigning European Champion Marc Rheinard travelled with the Awesomatix team for practice at the uniquely shaped track layout, he wouldn’t contest the Warm-up Race and Xray was without its lead driver in Modified as Alexander Hagberg was racing at eSIC in in Singapore, where he finished runner-up to Akio Sobue.  With five rounds of qualifying, it Orlowski who took the TQ ahead of Infinity’s Bruno Coelho and Mugen Seiki’s Ronald Volker with the Yokomo’s Christopher Krapp claiming P4.  With the Top 3 remaining unchanged in each of the triple A-Mains, the podium would be the same as how they lined up.  RC Maker’s Antoine Brunet was the top mover in the finals, the Frenchman qualifying P7 and finish P6 behind Jilles Groskamp and ahead of Awesomatix’s Lucas Urbain.  In Pro Stock, Max Machler took the TQ & win ahead of Awesomatix team-mate Olivier Bultynck with Xray’s Adam Iszay completing the podium.

Sobue reigns in Singapore to win eSIC 2025

Axon’s Akio Sobue reigned over the third edition of the Electric Singapore International Challenge (eSIC), the Top Qualifier backing up Saturday’s performance with a dominant Sunday.  Taking the A1 win ahead of Xray’s Alexander Hagberg, the Japanese driver would repeat the result in A2 to secure an early overall win in Singapore.  Debuting the first production example of Axon’s upcoming TC10/4 Touring Car release the result was the perfect launch for the Japanese manufacturer’s new car.  While Sobue had the perfect weekend his team-mate Hayato Ishioka would be less fortunate.  Securing P2 in qualifying after topping Q3, he suffered an electrical issue in A1 and A2, but with Sobue able to sit out A3 and watch he gave Ishioka  his electrics for A3 and that led to the most exciting of the three A-Main encounters.  With the power setting of Sobue’s ESC a little more aggressive to his own, leading away the field Ishioka would overshoot the back straight and drop down the order as Nicholas Lee took over the lead.  Shadowed by Hagberg the Xray duo looked to have the race under control until Lee spun out.  Having to change car for A3 after an off destroyed his car in A2, Lee was at a loss to explain why he spun out when he ‘wasn’t under pressure’ from his team-mate.  With Hagberg now leading and Ishioka seemingly some way back, the Japanese driver came out of nowhere in the last two laps setting up a perfect show down of a drag race to the finish line – Hagberg just getting it by 0.027 to secure second overall.  With Atsushi Hara backing up his P3 finish from A1 with another in A3, A2 not going his way, the former World Champion completed the podium at RCMC.
