The 2nd round of the F1RCGP was held in the well known Yatabe Arena Circuit at Ibaraki last month. The world’s biggest indoor RC circuit attracted big names like multiple World and National Champion RC legend Masami Hirosaka, National Champion Shinnosuke Adachi and National finalist Takashi Kato, Kazuki Endo and Takao Mizumizo. Practise day: All the eyes were on Masami Hirosaka (Team YM) who was driving a Tamiya F103 borrowed from Hideo Kitazawa who didn’t show up for practice. The organisers of the F1RCGP series were in touch to inform us that Waigo Hobby in Hong Kong will be organising qualifying races to take part in the 10th round of the F1RCGP Championships which will be held in Hong Kong in November this year. The qualifying series will have 8 rounds held in different tracks across Hong Kong with the 1st round kicking off this weekend, the 14th of March. Have followed the 2009 F1RCGP series in Japan throughout the year, we were sent the fine overall results from the season. In the end it was team Alex Racing’s Hiroshi Kamibayashi driving the Tamiya F103 Zen that took the overall title ahead of Tech F125 drivers Takatoshi Morita and Hideki Tamura in 2nd and 2rd. In the constructors title it was Futable F1 Racing, whose drivers Takatoshi Morita, Kimura Shinya and David Tse held them seal the title. The 6th Round of the F1RCGP Championship was held recently at Crest Speed Way. This indoor carpet track allows drivers to concentrate on setting up the car without worrying about the weather conditions. The layout of the track had been changed a week ago and this was maybe part of the reason that most of the drivers were suffering from inadequate traction. The 5th round of the F1RCGP Championship was held recently at Pit In Stadium in Chiba. This round attracted Masayuki Mimura (former 1/8 GP national champion) from Hot Bodies with the brand new HPI Formula 10.The track being used was designed by RC legend Masami Hirosaka and father Masaaki. With no exceptions just as in round 1 and 3 the race started under heavy rain condition and drivers started to try different tires like glue spreaded sponge tires, rubber tires and tamiya tube tires.
