Last weekend the second round of the Dutch IC Track Nationals took place at the Raco2000 track in Utrecht. Perfect weather conditions made for nice days of racing and in premier 1/8th NK class it was Joey Sorber with the overall TQ and a new 12.887s track record from Arie Manten and Michael Salven. The Halifax circuit played host to round two of the BRCA Circuit Championship. In the nitro class Andy Hastings set the pace in qualifying with his Shepherd from David Spashett (ARC) and Michael Walton (Xray). The 30-minute final saw a battle with Andy and Michael for much of the race, Mark Green having qualified only 8th worked his way through the field and with ten minutes remaining took over the lead from Michael who had to retire after some contact. The opening round of the Portuguese 1/8th Off-road Nationals was held at the Guarda track this past weekend. In the Nitro Buggy class it was Kyosho’s Joao Figueiredo with the overall TQ from Serpent’s Carlos Duraes in 2nd and Mugen’s Ricardo Monteiro in 3rd. In the 45-minute the three would battle it out for the top 3 positions again and in the end the order would stay the same as in the qualifiers with Joao taking the win from Carlos 2nd and Ricardo 3rd. The opening round of the 2019 BRCA 1/8th IC Track season started at the Brooklands circuit in Kent on the south coast. A good entry of drivers descended on the track, which was in its best condition since returning to the calendar. After a solid days testing on Saturday, the race got underway on Sunday morning. Shepherd’s Tim Wood took the TQ honours from Serpent’s Mark Green after two rounds of qualifying before rain halted proceedings. Last weekend saw the grand season finale of the 2018 Pro Stock Series 2018 with this year’s host being the WMC Wiesbaden club in Germany. The Pro Stock Series is a national racing series in Germany for 1/10th and 1/8th scale nitro cars run with mandatory stock engines from Novarossi and Picco as well as bodies from BrilliantRC. Since this year there is also an 1/8 electric class which enjoys growing popularity. Round 5 of the Mid German Regional IC Track Championships took place at the Minidrom Ettlingen over the weekend. In the premier 1/8th On-road class 1 and qualifying 4th for the 30-minute A-main, Infinity’s Dennis Weihert only needed to finish on the podium to lift the overall title. With temperatures up to 35 Degrees Celsius Dennis played a safe strategy and he was rewarded with a 2nd place on the finish line behind Serpent’s Philip Sting and in front of Serpent driver Jörg Wäldle. Round 8 of the Chilean National IC Track Championship was hosted by the Aeromodelos de Chile club in Santiago de Chile. In the 1/8th class Francisco Lara (Serpent/Picco) from Spain, after been out of the racing scene for eleven months, took the overall TQ, scoring a new track record of 22.151s in the process. The 8th round of the Chilean National IC Track Championship attracted a good number of entries, making for some competitive racing throughout the day. After the qualifications, Tomás Ramirez (IGT8/Novarossi) took the pole position for the 30-minutes long A-main encounter while also scoring the fastest lap with a 25.110. At the start of the 3-minutes warm-up time a servo failure already ended the race of Tomás who wasn’t allowed to start in the final.
