BRCA 1/8th Circuit Championships Rd1 – Report

…Did it make a difference? Some say it did, some say there is no point. The usual culprits seemed to be leading the way, Mark Green, Andy Hastings, Neal King, Tim Wood to name but a few. David Spashett, last year’s runner up, was absent but Alex Thurston was back in nitro after two very successful years in 8th electric. It would be rather interesting to see on the Sunday how people would actually get on with their new cars in race conditions. After the sound of blistering lap times – for the conditions – the day was over and…

Essex Winter Series Rd5 – Report

…Ashely and Chris again making up the top five. This meant that Billy would line up 3rd on the grid in front of Chris and Ashley, with championship podium contenders Colin Jackson and Richard King would have work to do from 6th and 8th respectively, as Tom Green made his first EWS A-final in 7th, and the grid was rounded out by Mark Buonaiuto (9th) and Jack Ioannou (10th). The A-final saw Tony and Zak break away from the field very quickly, as the fight behind would decide the final step on the overall series podium. Zak remained close to…

2017 Fall Brawl – Report

…year and this year proved to be an unforgettable outdoor 1/8th nitro experience. The format was modified to make practice go much smoother, with less congestion, and shorter lines. Open practice was held on Thursday and Friday, but drivers could choose to run on either day, but not both. The idea is to split the practice into two groups. The Thursday group had a green track, but shorter lines which equal more practice time. The Friday group would have shorter lines than your typical “all out” practice sessions, but the main benefit is that you get to run on a…

Tim Wood crowned BRCA 1/8th IC Track Champion

The final round of the British IC Track Championship took place at the Cotswold circuit in central UK. Saturday Morning was damp, so cars hit the circuit for practice in the afternoon only. Noticeable quick cars were Green, Wood, Spashett, and Hastings. Sunday saw a fully dry track from the start. Four rounds of qualifying saw Mark Green take a superb TQ, but the title contenders lined up 2nd Spashett and 4th Wood. The start of the A-final saw a Green get away swiftly, with the title protagonists battling hard for 2nd. A close exciting race saw Wood’s Serpent hounding…

BRCA 1/8th IC Track Nationals Rd5 – Report

…fastest times generally set in round one or two. Spashett continued his good form, taking pole position from Mark Green, Neal King and Tim Wood. These drivers seemed to be in a league above the rest. Clive Connolly qualified a superb 5th, also followed by Andrew North, Neil Diver, Jason Frost and Michael Walton completing the line-up for the A-final. Andrew Hastings was very unlucky with engine issues in qualifying but would show his true pace dominating the B-final. The Electric class reached nearly twenty racers and again showed a perhaps more relaxed alternative way to race 1/8 Circuit, without…
