Wayne Joelson wins South African Champs Rd3

The 3rd round of the South African Championships were held in the city of Durban, from 30 June to 1 July. The organisers saw a record entry in both 1/10th Touring and 1/8th scale, on the most technical track in South Africa. Reigning South African Champion Wayne Joelson driving the Mugen Seiki MRX5 won all qualifying rounds, and after an engine cut in the 45 minute final managed to take back the lead and win with minutes remaining. Wayne Joelson retains SA title with Rd4 win

The 4th and final round of the 2010 South African On Road Gas Nationals took place at the TRAP facility just outside the city of Pretoria recently. Taking TQ in the 1/8th scale class, the only driver to run 18 laps in the qualifiers, was current SA Champion Wayne Joelson driving his Novarossi powered Mugen Seiki MRX4X. Joelson & Bower take Rd2 in South Africa

Mid May saw drivers from all around South Africa attend round 2 of the National Championship in East London. In the 1/8th class Wayne Joelson driving a Novarossi powered Mugen Seiki MRX4X who was top qualifier and went on to win the 45 minute final by 5 laps. Second place was Steve Munslow while in third place overall was James Brauns making it a Mugen Seiki 1-2-3. South African Electric Nats Rd4

…to come in for a drive through penalty. But that penalty only made Gibson drive that much harder and as the laps clicked away he was laying down some of the fastest laps of the event. Quickly closing in on Wiseman and Wiseman could see it. 2nd African Cup GP report

…nobody could have predicted an outcome. Both drivers driving Motonica’s cars with Novarossi engines set a tough pace during practice. Steven TQ’d the event and Leigh was able to get to 5th place with the other top South African’s filling in the other positions. S400 wins the Nosram Six Enduro Series

Serpent are reporting on the achievements of their South African team, which scored an important victory for the S400 as the three man Serpent squad of Dave Wiseman, Mike Wiseman and Tony D’ Oliviera took overall victory in the Nosram Six Series, an endurance series that takes in three 6 hour races run over a two month period. The first event at the tight Umhlanga Gateway Raceway, saw a tight fight right to the end, with the S400 car of Mike, Dave and Tony D’Oliviera, taking the win by just one lap, approx 16 seconds, after 6 hours of racing….

Mike Wiseman takes Rd3 of SA Nats

Serpent have a report online from the 3rd round of the South African 1/8th and 1/10th scale Nationals held at the very large Durban track recently. In qualifying it was Mike Wiseman all the way, taking the TQ with his Serpent 720 and 960 respectively continuing his dominant form from the first 2 rounds of the National series. Mike Wiseman takes Rd2 of SA Nats

Following on from his dominant performance in round 1 of the South African National championshisp Mike Wiseman has won again in round 2, which took place last weekend in Pretoria. In 1:8th qualifying it was a tight tussle between Hein Kotze, Wayne Joelson and Mike Wiseman, with Mike eventually taking the TQ by almost two seconds in the final round and in the final Mike drove away to a clear 2 lap victory finishing ahead of Joelson in 2nd with a hard charging Faizel Salie in 3rd.
