Dominic Quek wraps up UTS title

The final round of the Singapore-based Urban Touring Series was held this past weekend. Championship points leader, Dominic Quek (Xray), returned to the action, and he would be challenged by a larger turnout for the highly anticipated final round of the year-long 10-round series. While many were anticipating Dominic to dominate the event, the results of the controlled practice indicated the possibility of an upset. Running a new set of tyres, Dominic struggled to put in three fast laps, losing out the top seed position to Xray team-mate, Hasron Robana, who was faster by two-tenths over three laps. When qualifying started however, Dominic showed that he had resolved his early troubles by sweeping Q1 and Q2 by a lap each over his competitors to wrap up an early TQ. Qualifying 2nd was Hasron, with Joe Hwee (Schumacher) in 3rd.

Keith Hadley takes double NCT title

The 2017 edition of the Northwest Championship Tour NCT proved that outdoor off-road racing is alive and well in the Pacific NW. The six race series visited six different tracks all across the region and drew an average of 296 entries per event. The NCT utilizes a best four out of six format and in Nitro Buggy Keith Hadley had a great season by taking three class wins and finishing on the podium in each of the six rounds.

Cole Ogden teams up with HB Racing

Following his split with Mugen, Cole Ogden has announced a deal with HB Racing to race the company’s off-road kits for the remainder of 2017 and into 2018. Beside attending races for his new chassis sponsor, Cole will also help with research and development of future products and he had the following to say:

I’m glad to announce that for the rest of 2017 and into 2018, I will be racing and helping develop future vehicles for HB Racing! The way the team operates on and off track is what weighed on me the most. I am super excited for this venture into the future, and I look forward to working with everyone at HB for the remainder of the year, and into the future!

Jake Thayer teams up with Yokomo

Yokomo have announced the signing of Jake Thayer to their US team. Store manager at OC RC Raceway in Huntington Beach, California, Jake is known as an extremely hard worker and also wicked fast on the track, taking countless club race wins while also bringing a great knowledge of set-up and racing experience to Yokomo’s growing USA race team.

T-Works MTC1 30mm/40mm motor fan mount

T-Works have introduced their new motor fan mount for the Mugen MTC1 electric touring car. The item is machined from aluminum and it comes gun metal anodised and includes gold-plated hardware. Its design with dual mounting patterns allows to use 30mm or 40mm fans and the fan holder attaches directly to the car’s layshaft mount to avoid influence on the chassis tweak.

Mon-Tech Racer200 & Silvy200 nitro touring car bodies

Italian company Mon-Tech Racing have introduced their new Racer200 and Silvy200 body shells for 1/10th 200mm nitro touring cars. Based off of the respective 190mm electric variants, the 200mm wide bodies offer comparable characteristics to their electric siblings and they are made from high-quality 0.75mm polycarbonate. Included with the bodies come window masks, wing mounting hardware and a decal sheet.

STRC TRX-4 aluminium diff covers

Coming from ST Racing Concepts and made for the Traxxas TRX-4 trail truck are CNC-machined aluminium diff covers. With the diff covers for any scale rig being the focal point of the front and rear drive axle, ST Racing Concepts now offers alloy covers for Traxxas’ popular truck. These diff covers add a bit more weight to the front and rear drive axle for better climbing performance while also improving visual impact. The parts are direct replacements and are available in anodized blue, black, gun metal, red and silver.
