Marc Fischer Scorpion-powered through to 2020

Scorpion Power System have announced the signing of Germany’s Marc Fischer to their factory team. The former Trion driver signed a long-term contract through to 2020 and he will not only race Scorpion’s brushless motors and speed controllers but he will also assist with research and development. Marc says:

Since my contract was done on 01.08.2017 with Trion, I really want to thank Koba for the great and good Time in the Team. I test multiple system for a couple of weeks and I decided Scorpion Power System is the way to go for me. As George van Gansen offer me to work in the RD and testing/developments. So I am really happy that from 01.09.2017 until 31.08.2020 I sign with Scorpion Power System and want to thank George van Gansen and the whole Scorpion Team for the opportunity for their team. First official Race will be ETS Round 1 in October, so I am really looking forward for the first Indoor event and for sure with the new system. Thank you very much George.

Wesley van Helmond takes Belgian 2WD title

Round 5 of the Belgium 1/10th electric off-road championship was held at the MAC Vlijmen track recently. Wesley van Helmond was on fire in the 2WD Buggy class, taking the overall TQ and also the day’s win from Brent Ausloos 2nd and Wouter Wynen 3rd. With the win Wesley wrapped up the 2WD title, something he will also try to accomplish in the 4WD class at the forthcoming final round of the championship in a few weeks time.

Morganti & Apolaro win at Great Lakes Challenge

The Great Lakes Challenge was held recently with this year was the most competition for a few years, providing very tight racing in all classes. In the 1/8th class the fight for the TQ was very close. DJ Apolaro TQ’d three of the five rounds beating out Joaquin Desoto Jr by only 4 tenths. He also set the new track record with 18 laps in 5:05.561 and the top 5 after qualifying would be DJ Apolaro, Joaquin Desoto Jr., Paolo Morganti, Paul Lemieux and Ralph Burch.

Schumacher Mi6evo carbon fibre chassis & top deck

Coming from Schumacher are a new chassis and updated top decks for the Mi6 and Mi6evo touring cars. The new 2.25mm soft weave chassis will increase the flex of the Mi6-series cars compared to the kit 2.5mm chassis, improving performance especially in lower grip conditions. It will also lower the centre of gravity, improving corner speed.

Tekno release more EB410 images

Following a first series of images and information about their forthcoming EB410 1/10th 4WD buggy, Tekno have now gone a bit more into deep with part two of their introduction series. The latest instalment mainly focusses on the shaft drivetrain that is made up using tapered aluminium centre dogbone-style driveshafts and high-capacity front, centre and rear differentials. Other driveline features include CVA-style front and rear driveshafts with 6mm hardened steel stub axles that run in large inner wheel bearings.

Schumacher Cactus 1/10th buggy carpet tyres

Schumacher have introduced their all-new Cactus 1/10th buggy tyre. The tread has been specially developed for EOS style carpet and offers improved driving feel, faster lap times, and longer life. It has been extensively tested on both new and well worn carpets and the long life design with high density pin pattern and famous stagger edge design will greatly minimise grip roll. The tyre becomes available as 2.2″ rear and 2.2″ 4WD front variant in silver, yellow and blue compound and also as yellow compound pre-mounts. The Cactus was also chosen as the new control tyre for the 2017/18 EOS season and this winter’s Mibosport Cup. Part numbers will be U6839 for 4WD/2WD rear and U6841 for 4WD front while the 2WD class will rely on the proven U6801 (Cut Stagger Low Profile) as the front tyre.

Hiro Seiko introduce new lightweight screw kits

Coming from Hiro Seiko are new lightweight screw kits for the Xray X10 and X12 series of pan cars as well as the new Xpress XQ1 and the Awesomatix A800X. The X10’18 related kits come as mixed aluminium and titanium or full titanium sets that save 15.5g or 12.6g of weight respectively. The X12’18 kits also come as mixed or full titanium sets, scrubbing 15.5g or 12.2g respectively with the mixed sets including orange anodised aluminium and natural finish titanium fasteners. Swinging over to the touring car sets, the fastener kit for the XQ1 saves about 29g for the mixed and 21g for the all-titanium set while the A800X assortments scrub 23g with the mixed and 18.5g with the all-titanium kit. The mixed sets use red alloy screws for the XQ1 and gold-anodised fasteners in the mixed Awesomatix set.

Exotek TLR 22 4.0/3.0 alloy front camber block

Exotek have introduced a front camber block with integrated anti-roll bar mount for the TLR 22 4.0 and 3.0 series of buggies and trucks. The heavy duty alloy front camber block was designed for the use with TLR sway bars and it is machined down to seven grams to minimise weight but made with 7075 alloy to increase the strength over the stock piece. The part uses set screw holes to remove excess play from the sway bar and it comes polished, anodised black and laser-etched for wear and looks.
