Kyosho Lazer ZX6.6 4WD off-road buggy kit

Kyosho Lazer ZX6.6 4WD off-road buggy kit

Following the introduction of the Ultima RB6.6 Kyosho have now announced the soon release of the upgraded Lazer ZX6.6 4WD kit. The buggy is designed to meet the increased demands of the modern racing scene for more power and higher grip. For increased traction and stability on high grip surfaces, the optional aluminium HD main chassis is included as standard. Changes around the centre gear from the slipper clutch to the diff realise smooth traction on all surface conditions and in addition, the introduction of the gullwing type rear suspension arms from the RB6.6 allows longer shock stroke for improved surface tracing through corners and performance over surface gaps. These changes combine to lift the overall performance and result in an improved total balance of the machine. The kit will hit stores in November.

Mugen MTX-6R 1/10th 200mm nitro touring car

Seen for the first time in pre-production stages at the recent IFMAR 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring Car World Championships, Mugen have now officially introduced their latest top-of-the-foodchain 200mm nitro touring car kit. The MTX-6R sports many improvements and refinements in the suspension and steering areas, starting with a new chassis that allows to easily mount two centre weights to improve stability. The chassis also has improved rigidity that makes the car precise while increasing rear traction. The kit is also outfitted with a new thickened bulkhead brace to help with rear-end stability. The new upper rear bulkhead allows to use a longer upper arm to improve stability and the new front and rear lower arms are made with a new material to improve steering response and durability. Also part of the package is a new front shock tower that is stronger for improved stability while corning. Last but not least comes a new front bumper that helps to adjust the weight balance of the vehicle.

Ari Bakla doubles at 2016 NSW State Titles

Ari Bakla doubles at 2016 NSW State Titles

The 2016 NSW State Titles were held at Sydney RC Car Club. Near perfect weather apart from overnight rain on the Friday night made for excellent racing conditions. The near pure clay surface proved a little slippery with the control tyre chosen, making it hard to find the right setup for the super smooth and flowing surface. On 4WD day the track was dry and grooved. Ari Bakla and and Christian Homann would take the TQs in the Modified and Stock class respectively and by winning their first two A-mains they also checked out early, leaving the other drivers to fight for the remaining podium spots.

SARDA On-Road Gas Nationals Rd3 – Report

SARDA On-Road Gas Nationals Rd3 – Report

The third round of the South African Gas On-road National Championships was held at the long and testing DMCC race track in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal.  Conditions for the weekend would prove a little bit unpredictable with rain for most of official practice on Friday. Driver’s setups made in open practice would need to be tweaked with very little time to get ready for Saturday qualifiers. 1/8 Scale would see the battle between Jacques Liebenberg (Capricorn) and Wayne Joelson (Mugen) be hotly contested. With both drivers equal on qualifying points, the decider would come down to last round with Liebenberg taking it to a tie breaker and the TQ with only 0.3 seconds ahead of Joelson. Harold van Eeden (Capricorn) who has been showing his metal this year would claim the last top 3 spot.

JConcepts S1 EB48.3 buggy bodyshell

JConcepts S1 EB48.3 buggy bodyshell

Coming from JConcepts and made for the Tekno EB48.3 buggy is the new Silencer bodyshell. The body has new elements created for fast and rough terrain driving; the cab is placed in a forward position with a medium rake angle for an aggressive driving feel without sacrificing out-right balance. The forward pods have the necessary height for high capacity batteries with an added scoop, built for cooling access from a forward position. The rear of the pods are built up and include a rear winglet which drops some force on the rear tires. The mid-length cab incorporates a one-piece side window layout and includes a long shark fin off the rear of the cab for side-traction and straight-line tracking ability. At the rear of the cab rest several areas which can be trimmed for air-flow and hot air escape. Just behind the motor area, another escape pocket has been added for increased passage for flow while everything exits the rear in the scoop-like fashion. The sides of the body have a unique step treatment which adds some strength and also a fitted change of direction forming around the chassis side-guards. The Silencer is formed in clear polycarbonate material with protective film and each package includes window mask and detailed decal sheet.
