Round four of the Norwegian 1/10th Electric Buggy Nationals was held in Levanger, Norway. The race for the win in the 2WD class was on between Malin Karlsen (Xray) and Roy Gjemble (Schumacher), the latter would eventually take the overall TQ and pole position for the triple A-mains. A1 then saw Roy taking a pretty easy win following some bobbles of Malin but the young lady would strike back in A2 when Roy made a mistake in the opening stages that allowed Malin to cruise to the win, shifting the decision for the overall win into A3. HB Racing tease E817 1/8th E-buggy kit

HB Racing tease E817 1/8th E-Buggy kit

HB Racing have released a first teaser image of their forthcoming E817 1/8th scale electric buggy kit. Based off of the World Championship winning D815 the electric variant utilises a range of purpose-designed features such as a low-centre of gravity battery mount that allows the use of brick-type 4S, 2S standard and 2S shorty LiPo packs with the drivetrain sporting an optimised 43T/10T gearbox. The motor mount is of a unique clamp-type design and the updated hinge pins offer easier front and rear differential access. The covered receiver box and the electronics mounts are removable for easy of cleaning and the buggy is usable without a special “E”-body as most nitro bodies fit – included with the kit will come a Pro-Line Predator. Other features included are updated rear hubs that are now compatible with universals and CVA-type drive shafts while optional D arm mounts allow the fine-tuning of the rear toe adjustments. On top of this the E817 will be compatible with almost all of the available D815 tuning items. The prototype of the buggy already won the recent EFRA 1/8th E-Buggy Euros and the vehicle is set for a release at the end of this year.

Ryan Lutz trifecta at SikCross 2016

Ryan Lutz trifecta at SikCross 2016

This past weekend the Pro-Line test track in Banning, California held the famous SikCross event. This was the second annual event put on by Levi Jackson and as per usual, the event was unique. There were three qualifiers with each one counting and points were given on how high racers have finished their race. The races were heads-up, gate start and super exciting moto cross style legs. But qualifying didn’t mean much as it just allowed the pick of gate position. The nitro mains were also unique in that they were basically a typical 45 minute A-main but broken up into three, 15-minute races back to back with 5-minute breaks in between. This break allowed for a change of tyres or air filter or if a driver happened to have a mechanical failure as there was another chance in the next one. All three counted and so every position was paramount.
