Hobby Haven in Urbandale, Iowa; located in an active part of town and within a shopping plaza, has a lot to offer the hobbyist and racer alike. For many years Hobby Haven has hosted a Labor Day Shootout dedicated to its customers and loyal club racers. JConcepts drivers Jason Ruona and Zach Mote made the trip during Labor Day for this year’s Shootout and brought with them the customary JConcepts Events gear and prizes for the racers.
Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the German 1:8th scale Nationals which were held in Osterhofen. Friday’s practice was cancelleddue to very heavy rain but the weather on Saturday was a little bit better with no more rain. After Qualifying it was Stefan Scheuenpflug who took the TQ spot. Sunday was finals day and the main event was over 40min and saw Daniel Reckward have some problems near the end allowing Stefan Scheuenpflug to take the win. Jörn Neumann finished 5th, but combined with the win in Round 1 of the series, it was enough for him to claim the overall German Title.

The annual end of season finals took place over the weekend at the excellent Kidderminster facility in the midlands. The event incorporates the British Regional Finals which include the best regional drivers in the country, except those who hold a F1 license, plus the Juniors and Veterans class. For the second year running Nathan Waters has won the regional title with his CAT SX, Nathan dominated the finals, winning all 3 legs of the A final at the challenging Kidderminster track. Colin May and Andrew Jones also placed their CAT’s in the A final.

Kyosho have sent us a sneak peak of their new carm, the DBX VE. With little information on the new car, the name seems to suggest it is an electric version of their 4wd 1/10th scale DBX buggies. More information will become available in the near future and it is expected to be released in November.

The first RC Pro Canada National Championships were held this past weekend in Edmonton, Alberta. Over 120 racers made the trek to compete for the championship titles. Mother nature wreaked havoc late Sunday afternoon forcing the cancelation of the last 3 mains. Ty Tessman put on a dominant performance TQ’ing and winning both Expert Buggy and Expert Truggy, securing himself the National titles in those classes. Jason Poirier took home the title in 1/8th Open Electric, Kyle Dickson in Intermediate Truggy, Lawrence Barney in Intermediate Buggy and Dave Cole in Extreme Truck.

JConcepts have been in touch to tell us about their JConcepts Bash that takes place on the 31st of October at eXtreme Hobby Zone in Winter Haven, Florida. Open to a large number of electric off road classes, there will be plenty of prizes available to competitors. X Factory have announced new front axles to fit both the X-6 Squared and the RC10B4. B4s are sold with steel front trailing axles that secure the wheel with a nut. The nut protrudes from the front wheel and can catch on things. The new X Factory trailing front axles are hardened steel so they won’t break and secure the wheel with a button head screw. Made for X Factory by M.I.P., the new axles are completely drilled through the center so they each weigh just 1 gram more than the aluminum FT axle. The package contains two axles and four button head screws, X Factory’s axles are secured in the car with a screw instead of an E-clip, so each pack contains everything needed for both sides of the car.

The 2nd annual Labor Day Shootout took place at Riverfront RC Raceway and for the first time held a race for the electric 1/8 buggy class. TQ after 3 rounds was Tekin driver Jason “Mo” Moberly. After 3 different racers each taking a win in the 3 mains it came down to Jason Moberly and Kevin Jelich, both having a 1st and 2nd, the tie breaker being overall times allowing Jason to take the win over Kevin by a mere .7 seconds.
