Schumacher BTCC Rd6 – Report

Schumacher BTCC Rd6 – Report

This past weekend it was time to visit the Stafford circuit in the Midlands for round six of the Schumacher BTCC. Saturday saw some drivers turn up to try and get some practice and get their cars set to their liking, however they managed to get a few runs between the rain showers until a huge downpour ended things in the afternoon. Sunday morning drivers were greeted by a damp race track and showers on and off throughout the day. Stafford’s John Robson and Schumacher’s Mark Musgrove gave the drivers briefing and explained the details for the day. This was the regular format of round by round qualifying, with two from four rounds to count. The Modified class was unfortunately low on entries, due to some of the top drivers away on duty at the Worlds event in China and also due to there being no Modified National event this year at the track. However for the drivers that were there, they had a great time and enjoyed themselves. It was Olly Jefferies who would TQ all four rounds and line up on Pole ahead of David Hall and Marcus Askell.

Active Hobby Products chassis balancers & brass weights

Active Hobby Products chassis balancers & brass weights

Japanese company Active Hobby Products have introduced their chassis balance tool and also an arrangement of brass chassis balance weights. Starting with the balance tool, it adapts a common design that helps to achieve a perfect left-to-right chassis balance without the use of scales. The tools offer a sturdy base and hardened steel pins that interlock with the balance holes most of today’s electric and nitro on-road chassis have to offer. Placing the car on the pins and using additional weights to balance the left and right weight help to achieve a 50/50 weight bias in order to gain equal left and right hand turning characteristics. The balance tools come in sets of two and they hit stores soon.

Shepherd Velox V10 Low-Flex set

Shepherd Velox V10 Low-Flex set

Shepherd have introduced the new Low-Flex set for the Velox V10 1/10th 200mm nitro on-road car. Already part of the WC Edition update kit the parts were designed to reduce the flex of the chassis’ rear end and they are now also available as the separate Low-Flex set. The backbone of the kit is the 3mm carbon brace that stiffens up the rear end of the car significantly, making the car easier and more precise to drive. The set includes the rear end carbon stiffener, modified rear bulkheads with ball bearing inserts, as well as several hardware parts and it is available in traditional blue anodising or in black colour to fit the Black Edition kits. Owner of older kits additionally need the updated rear bulkheads #402221 to make use of this latest accessory.

Matsukura takes A1 in Beijing

mon_a1naoto-1

Naoto Matsukura has won the opening A-Main at the 1:12 World Championships in Beijing.  After shadowing Top Qualifier Marc Rheinard for 3-minutes, the former champion went to the front as the defending champion got sideways right in front of the drivers stand. With Rheinard then left to fend off Sobue, the touring car team-mates coming together, it was clear that the German was struggling.  With Sobue eventually getting through, Rheinard would drop to fifth by the end of the 8-minutes with Hideo Kitazawa getting through for third as well as Keven Hebert.  An inspection of his Yokomo afterwards would find the diff had broken in Rheinard’s car.
