BRCA Clubman Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the 2017 BRCA Clubman series took place this last weekend with a full 110 drivers booked in. The popular Bedworth club hosted this first round and the track was in fantastic condition to greet the drivers for the optional Saturday practice. The weather was perfect all weekend and the racing closer than ever. The Touring Car classes remain on the popular Sorex 32 control tyre for both the 17.5 Blinky and 13.5 Open classes. Colin Jackson made the switch from 17.5 to 13.5 to take the pole and both A-final wins with his Awsomatix. Luke Burr fought hard from 6th on the grid to take the overall 2nd place for Xray and Schumacher’s James Hart took the final podium place in 3rd.

RDRP XB2 brass rear weight

Revolution Design Racing Products have introduced the XB2 brass rear weight for all Xray XB2 with laydown gearboxes. The weight is made from high-quality brass material and is a direct fit to the vehicle’s gearbox. The weight adds 34g to the rearmost part of the chassis for increased traction in lower grip conditions. The weight comes coated in black and with machined gold-colour edge details to match the remainder of RDRP’s brass option parts.

Hepp, Liedke & Diekmann win at West German regionals

Round one of the West German division Nitro On-road regionals, a qualifying race for the German Nationals, was held in Dormagen this past weekend. In the premier 1/8th Nitro class 1 category, Tobias Hepp (ARC) would take the win from Serpent’s Merlin Depta in second and Christian Wurst (Mugen) in third. In the slightly slower class 2, Mugen racer Waldemar Liedke came out fastest in the main final from Ingo Braun (Serpent) in second and David Kröger (Shepherd) third. Finally in the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring class it was Melvin Diekmann that lead an all-Shepherd podium with Rene Püpke and Benjamin Lehmann coming in second and third.

Kaja Novotny sweeps Lestr Cup Rd8

Round 8 of the Lestr Cup was held this past weekend in Dubec. The series’ finale was held on a challenging track with three long straights and a series of double jumps and a table top. In the 2WD Buggy class Xray’s Kaja Novotny would take a dominant overall TQ from his team mates Milan Mudra and Zdenek Miksovsky. In the 4WD Buggy class Kaja would take Q1 and Q2 but a collision with a backmarker in the final qualifier would only mean a second place finish, however Kaja would still take the pole position for the triple A-mains.

Lantheaume doubles at French 1/10th Buggy Nats Rd2

The second round of the French 1/10th Electric Buggy National Championship was held in Meyrargues in the south of the country. In the 2WD Modified class Armand Lantheaume would take the overall TQ from Clement Boda in the tie breaker, while Renaud Savoya put his car on P3, tie on points with Sylvain Gallo Selva. In the 4WD Modified class it was again Armand that lead the way with a clean sweep after the qualifiers, taking all five rounds with Renaud Savoya in second and Arnaud Matohaza in third.

Balestri & Strano win at CIC2017 Rd1

The opening round of the Campionato Italiano Costruttori was held at the Miniautodromo Jody Scheckter in Fiorano, Italy over the weekend. In the premier 1/8th nitro on-road class, Dario Balestri took his first win for his new chassis sponsors Infinity ahead of his team-mate Alberto Picco and Alessio Mazzeo. The final saw an early domination of Andrea Pirani who started out from pole after TQing three of the four qualifying rounds, although a problem at the tyre stop moved the ARC driver back in the order, with Balestri ready to capitalise after having waited patiently for the right moment to attack.

Darren Bloomfield wins BRCA E-Buggy opener

The opening round of the BRCA E-Buggy and Nitro Truggy Nationals was held at the Kent Model Car Club over the weekend. In the E-Buggy class Agama’s Darren Bloomfield would take the TQ and he would also come out fastest in the A-main, taking a commanding victory, leading from lights to flag. Behind him Infinity’s Lee Martin and Team Associated’s Tom Clancy would round out the top 3 result.

Musso & Sartel successful at French Brushless Champs

Round two of the French Brushless Championship was held at the RC94 track in Sucy-en-Brie over the weekend. Thomas Musso (HB Racing) would snatch a dominant overall TQ in the E-Buggy class by taking round TQs in all of the three rounds, leaving Jerome Sartel (TLR) and Vincent Meertens (TLR) behind in second and third respectively. In the E-Truggy class things looked pretty similar up front with Thomas, Jerome and Vincent making up the top 3 after the qualifiers.
