Round four of the Silverstone Winter Series was held with 94 entries and in the premier 2WD class racing was pretty close. Jack Neal, Tom Yardy, Dave Poulter and Ian Mellish each TQ’d a qualifying round. In the final Jack drove a faultless race from the front to win, closely followed by Jonathan Skidmore and Richard Barton. In 4WD Paul Crompton won with Jonathan Skidmore 2nd and Felix de Hamel 3rd.

Round two of the Xray Racing Series Slovenia was held at the newly resurfaced track in Maribor. The new layout in combination with the proven ETS carpet made for close racing and in the Formula category it was Damir Cindrić to take the TQ after three round of qualifying in front of Matevž Furlan and Sašo Kramljak. The Touring Stock class had Jan Popič coming out fastest from Rok Rudl and Viktor Bolšec while in the fastest class of the weekend, 1/12th scale, Alojzij Osvald took the top qualifying honours from Herfried Pucher and Nejc Mihelič.

Ryan Maifield has laid down the fastest lap of 2WD practice on the opening day of the Reedy Race of Champions. The new Yokomo signing posted a best lap of 20.135 to top the times from 4WD pace setter Ty Tessmann, the separation 4/100ths of a second. A good day for the new team debutants, a strong lap from TLR’s Tanner Denney would see him the fastest of regular team drivers in P3 while team-mate & defending Champion Dakotah Phend ended up only 18th fastest of the 30 invitational class drivers.

Although speed is not the main ingredient for Reedy Race of Champion glory, Ty Tessmann has got his Xray debut off to a positive start by setting the outright pace over the three rounds of 4WD practice at OCRC Raceway in California. Posting a time of 19.613, the Canadian was fastest from Ryan Maifield who was another of the big American names to switch teams over the winter, the new Yokomo driver putting in a 19.845 second lap. Behind, Ryan Cavalieri would post the third quickest time and while he hasn’t changed team the former champion is debuting Associated’s well overdue new 4WD.

Serpent have announced the return of Walter Diaz to their US on-road team. After a stint with Capricorn Walter will run Serpent’s gas and electric on-road cars at events throughout the country and he has the following to say:

Following a first teaser, HB Racing have released first images of the production prototype D817 nitro buggy, run by David Ronnefalk. A hybrid D815V2/D817 buggy was used by David to win the 2016 IFMAR Nitro Buggy World Championship and it is understood that the forthcoming production version of the D817 will share many design ideas with the Worlds winning car. With the 2017 Nuremberg International Toy Fair only a few days away, Team Magic have released a first teaser image of their forthcoming new monster truck that is set to make a first public appearance at the show. Known for their popular E5 and E6 trucks the vehicle may set a new benchmark for the Asian company and full details and images are awaited in time for the Toy Fair which will take place in the first week of February.
