Coelho recovers to win A2

sun_brunoa2-770x462

While it took three laps before he crashed out of the lead of A1 of the Euro Offroad Series, in the second encounter Bruno Coelho would get it wrong on the opening lap, only this time the Top Qualifier was able to get back to the front and deliver a win.  Getting it wrong on the first run through the quad allowing Martin Bayer and Lee Martin to pass, A1 winner Michal Orlowski crashing out of second earlier in the lap, Coelho would take 8-laps to first get by Martin and then Bayer with a great pass around the outside at the quad.  Again the only driver to run a 17-second lap time, once the winner of the season opener got back to the front he would stay there managing an extra lap over team-mate Bayer who saw off a strong challenge from Martin.  Having recovered to 3rd and setting about a move on Bayer, a mistake with 3-laps to go would drop Orlowski back to 4th.

Orlowski crashes least to win A1

sun_finorlo-770x462

Michal Orlowski has won the opening 4WD A-Main at the Euro Offroad Series in Poland.  Starting from second the grid, the Schumacher driver would go to the front when Top Qualifier Bruno Coelho crashed coming off the wall on the second lap, a mistake he would repeat again two laps later.  With Martin Bayer up to second, the Czech driver looked like he was about to challenge Orlowski for the lead but he too made a mistake. Setting the fastest lap of the race, the only driver to break in 17-seconds, Coelho would set about closing down Orlowski but with four laps to go an error at the quad ended the reigning champion’s chances leaving yesterday’s 2WD winner to win with a lap in hand.  With fourth place starter Lee Martin crashing out of contention on the opening lap, Orlowski wasn’t immune from errors but such was his early advantage and good marshalling by team-mate Peter Pinisch he could survive a mistake on lap six.  Coelho would go on to finish 2nd with Bayer third, followed by Hupo Honigl.

Coelho Top Qualifier in Warsaw as Orlowski takes Q4

sun_tqbruno-770x462

4WD Championship leader Bruno Coelho is the Top Qualifier for Round 2 of the Euro Offroad Series in Warsaw. Going into the fourth & final round of qualifying at the Warsaw Moto Show hosted event only team-mate Martin Bayer had a chance of denying the Xray driver the overall TQ.  While Bayer would set the early pace after a mistake from Coelho at the 1-minute mark, it was Michal Orlowski who would go fastest pipping the Czech driver by 6/10ths of a second.  Recovering from a difficult first two qualifiers on Friday, Orowski’s Q4 TQ would allow him to split the two Xrays on the starting grid as he secured second ahead of Bayer.  For Nurburgring Top Qualifier Lee Martin, an early mistake put end to any chance of improvement and the Yokomo driver will start 4th ahead of on form Kája Novotný who secures his best ever EOS qualifying position with 5th.

Lee wins in Xiamen as Kurzbuch secures pole

lrsat-kurzbuchact

Saturday at the Guan Kou Sunpadow Grand Prix in Xiamen, China and the remaining two rounds of qualifying for all classes was reduced to just one with the weather forecast predicting rain. This decision made in the morning confirmed the top qualifying spot for both Simon Kurzbuch and Nicholas Lee in the 1/8th and Modified touring classes having both took all 3 rounds on Friday. It was also decided to run two of the 3 touring car A-mains on Saturday, but in the end the forecast was, as it most of the time is, wrong and it turned out to be a warm sunny day.
