JConcepts aluminium & carbon fibre setting board

JConcepts aluminium & carbon fibre setting board

Coming from JConcepts is the aluminium and carbon fibre setting board. A piece of art the board is made up using 2.5mm woven carbon fibre that has been machined to size with corner radius and countersunk. Four separate aluminium trim pieces are custom machined, anodized in either blue or black and etched with JConcepts.net logos for authenticity. The four trim pieces are attached together using heavy-duty 3mm hardware from the top and corners forming the frame for the setting board. The flat panel carbon material is dropped into place and secured with hefty flat head fasteners. The final product shows like an exotic race car while providing that all important flat surface for final setting and ride-height adjustments. The unit is light-weight for travel and can be disassembled for even more convenient packing procedures. The setting board is large enough for all 1/10th scale vehicles and also used for 1/8th applications. A protective film for the setting board is available separately. Once applied by the individual, the film resists more cuts and scratches for the racer who wants to take no chances with their prized possession.

Serpent have announced the contract termination with German frontrunner, Marc Fischer. The cooperation lasted for about four years with Marc delivering solid national and international results, including a double win at the prestigious Snowbird race. So far the reasons behind the termination remain unclear but this is what Serpent has to say about the move:

The cooperation started about 4 years ago for electric onroad and at times brought good results. We like to thank Marc for his efforts in the past years and wish him well. [As for the] Future Serpent will be expanding its team efforts in electric onroad, as we are about to release the brandnew Project 4-X touringcar and have more plans in the pipeline based on David Ehrbars development work in electric onroad. Some contacts with new team-drivers are in the process already, but interested drivers can drop us an email and we will reply to them in due course.

Martin Wollanka wins Austrian Nitro Buggy opener

Martin Wollanka wins Austrian Nitro Buggy opener

The opening round of the Austrian 1/8th Nitro Off-road National Championship was held at the Graz track. Xray’s Martin Wollanka would dominate the qualifying with his FX-powered ride to take the overall TQ but after the semifinals he had to settle for second behind Dominic Bauer (Mugen/Novarossi) as he pushed a bit too hard, making two mistakes in the progress. The main final then was a 2-horse race between Dominic and Martin with both wanting to take the win. Running with the same pace the two were never separated by more than five seconds and at the end Martin finished only one second ahead of Dominic while Michael Nalukowy (Kyosho/O.S.) had to settle for third.

Schumacher BTCC Rd2 – Report

The Schumacher BTCC round 2 visited the Adur track on the south coast this last weekend. Practice on Saturday saw the drivers getting their cars tuned in to the unique coastal circuit, a little disruption from the weather but by the end of the day most were getting up to speed. Sunday dawned bright but extremely windy which caused quite a lot of problems, luckily the weather from Saturday stayed away and the track was dry all day. In the premier Modified class Elliott Harper (Schumacher) was on top form all day. Elliott was edging out his usual rivals Olly Jefferies (Xray) and Chris Grainger (Team Associated), taking four out of the five qualifying rounds. Elliott took a flag to flag victory in the final in the tricky windy conditions.

Markus Hellquist doubles at Nordic Championships

Markus Hellquist doubles at Nordic Championships

The Nordic Nitro On-road Championships were held this weekend at the Eskilstuna track in Sweden. The race also doubled as the warm-up for the EFRA 1/8th Track Euros later in July and thus the event attracted drivers from six countries but unfortunately the weather would play a major factor during the weekend. The 1/8th main final was a 3-horse race for the win with Mikael Fransson being the fastest driver in qualifying, from Roland Ström and Markus Hellquist. Tricky conditions laid the ground for a very exciting race with the lead swapping several times and in the end Markus Hellquist was the one to finish first and to bring home the victory. Mikael Fransson finished in second and since Roland Ström was not able to finish the race, Italian driver of Marco Vanni rounded up the podium in third.
