New Era Firestorm Big block conversion

If you have ever wanted to put big block power into your 1/10th scale HPI Firestorm truck, then New Era will help you do that with their newly release big block conversion. The kit which includes a billet aluminium forward engine mount, a billet aluminium rear engine mount and a steel throttle return spring makes installing .21 or larger sized engine very easy. It even fits bigger motors with the car shown in the pictures fitted with a pull start Ofna .28 engine.

Robitronic Sealed Ball Bearings

Robitronic have announced the release of new sealed ball bearings, in standard sizes, for off road racing. Available with either steel or ceramic balls, both types are fitted with rubber gaskets to prevent dirt entering the bearing and damaging them. All bearings come pre oiled for high rpm usage and fit a variety of applications with the 5x10x4mm ball bearings ideal for use as clutch bearings. Robitronic now also sell ceramic balls in both 2.4mm and 3mm diameters and are supplied in a pack of 12, making them ideal for ball differentials.

 Yaniv Sivan wins 2008 Israeli League Rd2

The 2nd round of the Israeli League was run last weekend at a wet Hot-Wheels race club, and despite the rain there was still quite a lot of grip. The drivers also had to contend with a new track layout which combines fast and slow chicanes as well as a long straight and after qualifying it was Yaniv Sivan that had taken the TQ spot. From the start of the final it was Yaniv that took the lead followed by his brother, and winner of round 1, Nir Sivan while the battle for third went on behind them between Golan Levi and Yaniv Levi. This battle contined all the way till the end of the race with Golan taking the final podium spot behind eventual winner Yaniv Sivan, while Nir Sivan took 2nd.

WangWenPei wins HongNor Cup China 07

Last weekend saw the 2007 HongNor Cup held in mainland China for the first time at the FeiTeng track in Guangzhou, and it was open to both Buggy and Truggy. This is a one make race, open to HongNor racers only and it was attended by their factory team as well as many top Asian drivers, all driving the X1CR or X1CR-T. Qualifying saw the buggy class TQ go to ChengYikuan with Taiwanese factory driver WangWenPei in 2nd position. After the start it was WangWenPei that immediately took the lead and despite a battle with Singapore driver WenYi for many laps he was able to pull away and win the race 1 lap in front of WenYi in 2nd, with HuWeiPing in 3rd. WangWenPei also went on to win the Truggy class.

GS Racing CL1 Advanced

GS Racing has released the first spy image of the upgraded version of the CL-1 competition buggy, called the CL-1 Advanced. With only this picture to go on, the only thing we can see thats different so far are the big bore front shock absorbers that also feature a spring tension adjustment collar. More news about the car is expected to be released soon and we will bring it to you when we get it.

Matsukura & Suzuki take Buggy titles

Matsukura & Suki take JMRCA buggy titles

This weekend saw the indoor Yatabe Arena once more play host to the Japanese Nationals, this time for electric off road buggies, with the event open to both 2wd and 4wd classes. In 4wd it was Yokomo racer, and current 12th scale National Champion, Naoto Matsukura that took the TQ spot ahead of current 2wd World Champion Hayato Matsuzaki, racing for Hot Bodies in 2nd and Shin Adachi for Kyosho in 3rd. In 2wd qualifying it was Hiroshi Suzuki that took pole position in front of Akira Suzuki in 2nd and Hayato Matsuzaki in 3rd. The 4wd final saw complete domination for the young Matsukura who took wins in the first 2 finals, the second final seeing a winning margin of 12 seconds, to take the overall title ahead of Hayato Matsuzaki, who won the 3rd final, while Yokomo racer Hiroshi Suzuki took 3rd. In the 2wd finals Yokomo team driver Hiroshi Suzuki took 2 clear wins in the first 2 finals to secure his 2wd title, ahead of Tamiya racer Satoshi Maezumi in 2nd, who took the last final win, while Hayato Matsuzaki wrapped up a great day with 3rd overall.

German firm, Ansmann have announced the upcoming release of a new range of 1/8th scale stadium trucks called the Terrier. No information about the vehicles is given, but we know it will be available in Kit version, Non RTR version and RTR version and will most likely be based on the company’s Virus 1/8th scale buggy.
