CWIC XRS UK Rd1 – Report

Round one of the re-branded CWIC series got underway this weekend with a full entry heading to the Christie Miller Sports centre. A very new look and feel to this year’s series as support now comes from title sponsor Xray, Hudy and Hobbywing. The CWIC series has always been popular with touring car drivers in the west of the UK and now with the additional support its hoped drivers from further afield will come and taste the friendly but competitive feel of the series, still run under the expert supervision of Stephen Fabray the championship now has a new control tyre and hand-out motors for the touring car stock class. Three rounds of qualifying got underway at ten o’clock after a short practise run for all the drivers, the new tyre showed good grip from the start even on a relatively green track.

Bittydesign Type-6R 1/10th formula bodyshell

Italian company Bittydesign have introduced their new Type-6R bodyshell for 1/10th scale formula pan cars. With the focus being set on both a well performing and aesthetically pleasant body the Type-6R offers exceptional overall balance, optimised airflow and a thoroughly shaped rear end that is low and lean while still offering plenty of room for the motor pod. Made from genuine 0.75mm Lexan material the body also comes with a comprehensive pre-cut decal sheet to make sure even single colour paint jobs can be a crown pleaser and also included is a white driver helmet and suitable mounting material. The body is already available through Bittydesign’s own web store and it will become available world-wide by end of October.

SOAR Racing have revealed first detail images of the new 998 TD1 1/8th nitro off-road kit. The updated buggy will hit the stores soon with more information and images should become available in time for the release.

Michal Abrahamek takes Czech National 200mm title

The Czech 1/10th 200mm Nitro On-road Championship recently concluded with the fifth and final round. With three wins out of the five events it was Xray’s Michal Abrahamek to take the overall championship from Xray teammate Jiri Kral. KM Racing driver Michal Jansa would round out the overall top 3 result.

Serpent SRX2 MidHybrid chassis & gearbox sets

Coming from Serpent are the new MidHybrid aluminium chassis conversion for the SRX2 MM as well as three different optional gearbox sets for the same chassis conversion. Starting with the chassis set, included are a 2mm 7075-T6 alloy chassis with hard-coated surface, composite side rails and a rear waterfall. With a separate front kick-up plate the chassis is easily swapped for an optional carbon fibre part of conditions call for it. The chassis accepts the 3 and 4-gear standup and laydown transmissions right out of the box for the ultimate in versatility and it comes including a new bodyshell, a carbon fibre battery plate and updated gun metal anodised rear aluminium suspension mounts.

Dutch 1/8th On-road Championships Rd6 – Report

The sixth and final round of the Dutch 1/8th On-road Championship was held this past weekend at the RACO 2000 track in Utrecht. The weather forecast for Sunday was o.k. but Saturday’s practice was mostly washed away due to rain. With the NK and Nomac class titles pretty much decided the number of entries was a bit lower this time. In the NK class the 30-minute finale was won by Shepherd driver Arie Manten with 121 laps from Frank Baggen (ARC/120 laps) in second and Benny Ciere (ARC/119 laps) in third. In the Nomac class ARC’s Robbin Hertong came out fastest with 118 laps from Andy Muijres (ARC/111 laps) and Addie van de Ven (Serpent/110) in second and third respectively.

Arrowmax 1S 8000mAh 55C 1/12th scale LiPo battery

Arrowmax have introduced their new high capacity 3.7V 1S 8000mAh LiPo battery pack for 1/12th scale applications. Of standard “1/12th scale” 93x47x18.5mm dimensions the battery is built using high-performance 55C/110C cells for improved power output in both Modified and Stock classes. The battery comes in a protective hardcase and it is available very soon.

Kaja Novotny dominates Open Challenge Rd1

The opening round of the Czech Open Challenge Winter Series was held in Prague on a fast track with big jumps. Despite some transponder issues in Q1 Kaja Novotny took the overall 2WD TQ after coming out fastest in Q2 and Q3 and he would also take the top qualifier position in the 4WD category after making a clean sweep and winning all three qualifiers in style.
