The 3rd Annual South Valley Invert was hosted by Cottage Grove R/C Raceway in Cottage Grove, Oregon this past weekend. The event attracted some of the region’s fastest 1/10th off-road drivers and in the 2WD Modified Buggy class it was Kyosho’s Tanner Day who grabbed the TQ and win from Kyosho teammates Andy DiBrino and Joe Pillars.
Xray have announced the signing of young Joel Valander to their team. The Finnish Junior Champion will be part of Xray’s off-road team in 2016 and he plans to participate at events such as the EOS and the European Championship as well as Finnish national series beside other races. Joel has the following to say:

The third round of the 2015/16 Essex Winter Series had the honour of being the last major event of 2015. The capacity entry again featured stars from all parts of the UK and even further afield, including no less than three A-Finalists form last weekend’s ETS event. The Modified class saw EWS round 1 winner Olly Jefferies set the early pace with his Xray, narrowly pipping HB’s Andy Moore and EWS round 2 winner Elliott Harper’s Schumacher in the opening qualifier. Andy proved that his below-expectation result at the ETS was a one-off, topping the times in the second qualifying round, in front of the Xray duo of Olly and Alexander Hagberg. The third round saw Alexander setting the fastest time ahead of Kyle Branson, Olly and Elliott. That left pole position, along with the entire A-Final grid to be set in the final round. After five intense minutes, Olly secured pole position by setting the quickest time in front of Kyle and Andy. Once the rest of the points were added up, Andy would line up second on the grid in front of Alexander, Kyle and Elliott. A special mention has to go to Harley Eldridge who secured a pair of sixth places to line her Yokomo up seventh on the grid, just behind multi-time BRCA champion Chris Grainger.

Following a first teaser ST Racing Concepts have now released more information on their Izilla monster truck racing chassis conversion for the Axial Wraith. The kit uses stock Axial Wraith components and bolts right on in less than 30 minutes, however, this chassis was designed for more than just bashing, it was made with racing performance in mind as well, thanks to a low centre of gravity design with the heavy electronics of battery, ESC and receiver box placed just over the centre transmission. The chassis places the bulk of the weight right in the middle and as low as possible. Unlike other chassis kits the Izilla places the stock Wraith battery tray side by side with the included aluminium electronics plate, with plenty of space for mounting aftermarket ESCs. The battery is also placed on the opposing side of the motor for a better left/right balance while adjustable forward or rear bias weight distribution is possible.
Traxxas’ long-running Slash 2WD short course truck is now available in a new bodyshell variant, resembling the truck of former Indy driver and now off-road racer, Arie Luyendyk Jr. His GUNK-sponsored truck features a very recognisable blue, orange, and white paint scheme that sets it apart from the crowd. The truck itself comes with a 12T 550-size brushed motor, watertight and sealed electronics as well as a 2.4GHz radio system, 4-amp DC fast charger and a 7-cell 3000mAh NiMH battery pack.
New from HPI Racing comes the 2015 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5 Sport 3 ready-to-run kit. The 1/10th scale replica of Vaughn Gittin Jr’s RTR Spec 5 features a super realistic body and a set of replica HRE Tech 7 wheels for scale realism. Under the hood, the Mustang is equipped with the latest HPI Racing Touring Car chassis, the RS4 Sport 3. With full time shaft driven 4WD, a fully sealed drivetrain, waterproof 2.4 GHz electronics/radio gear, fully independent double wishbone suspension and adjustable oil filled shocks the car is Ready to Rock in any condition.

Mikimodel Distribution have announced that the annual WRC Contest will be held at the RC Landia track in Scandiano, Italy on the 17th of January. The event will see the attendance of several special guests such as Daniele Ielasi and Andrea Pirani and also the maiden outing of the new Prototype F1 class, a category invented by Mikimodel and run with 190mm Formula cars with “Prototype” bodyshells. Following several teasers Serpent finally released information in the Limited Edition Viper Evo 35th Anniversary kit. The kit will be issued to celebrate the company’s 35th anniversary and it builds on the 977 Evo 1/8th nitro on-road car that received some special option parts such as black anodised aluminium parts with silver chamfered edges, a newly-designed chassis stiffener, front and rear carbon fibre aero discs, the radio plate central flex set as well as brass chassis weights, an aluminium servo saver set, carbon fibre transponder mount and more. The kit also includes a range of merchandise parts such as an “laptop”-size bag with embroidered logo, a carbon-look USB stick with manual, setup sheets, 35th anniversary booklet and a tool brochure. The kit is limited to 350 pieces in total, it will feature the unique car number on its black anodised chassis and the 001 kit already went up for auction for a good cause.
