Viljami Kutvonen takes Nordic Championship

Viljami Kutvonen takes Nordic Championship

The recent Nordic Electric On-road Championships saw Viljami Kutvonen taking the TQ in the Touring Modified class from Adrian Berntsen and Magnus Vässmar. Before the opening A-main disaster stroke for the TQ holder as self-inflicted electronic problems denied Viljami to start. Adrian made maximum use of the situation and brought home the win in front of Magnus. A2 then saw a clean start from Viljami and he was able to open a gap on the field. Later in the race Adrian made a mistake that allowed Viljami to cruise to the win. The third and decisive A-main was pretty much the same affair. Kutvonen had a clean start and was able to pull away while Berntsen’s mistake came a bit earlier this time. Viljami slowed down a bit to take things easy but Adrian was able to recover and suddenly was right behind the leader, but Viljami again was able to pull away and to take the win and with it a maiden Nordic Championship title.

Xray Winter Series Morava Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Xray Winter Series Morava was held at the Jedovnice sports hall in the Czech Republic this past weekend with local drivers and guests from abroad in attendance. The event was held in the five classes of Open, Stock 17.5T, Hobby, Formula and GT. In the Touring Open class Oliver Havranek was the man to beat as he won all qualifiers in front of Michal Vitamvas. The opening A-main went to Oliver but an improving Michal stroke back in A2 so the third and final main would decide over the day’s win. With Oliver laying down a flawless run he would take the win in a heartbeat final and with a margin of only 0.5 seconds on Michal so Oliver would take the overall victory from runner-up Michal. Miroslava Jurenka rounded out the podium result.

KS Huang wins at China On-road nationals

This past weekend the China On-road Nationals were held in Fentai, Beijing, host of next year’s Electric World Championships. The event saw drivers from all over China participating in the China national team selection race. In the 190mm Sedan class it was HB team driver Huang Kui Sheng who took the overall win from runner-up Felix Law (MTS) while TOP Racing’s Zhu Xiao Feng finished third. Aaron Stringer wraps up QLD Inter Club Series

Aaron Stringer wraps up QLD Inter Club Series

The SE QLD Inter Club Series concluded with the sixth and final round held at Meakin Park in Brisbane. In total over 300 drivers attended the series that was held over a six month period, visiting three clubs twice each over the event. Aaron Stringer was leading the series and he only needed to make the A-Main and finish in the top 5 to wrap up the title. Qualifying for the pre-event favourite did not go to plan at all and saw him finish in 30th place. Starting 9th in the C-final Aaron would move his way up through the lower finals and ultimately ended on the 11 spot for the A-final in which he had a blinder of a start and was up to around 6th place after lap 1. The job got much tougher after that and took another 10 minutes or so to round up the next five places. After that it was a battle between Aaron and Darren Perry. Aaron managed to reduce the lead down to under two seconds with about two minutes to go, but it wasn’t to be and Darren took the win with Aaron in second. The runner-up spot was then enough for Aaron to grab the overall title from Darren Perry in second and Sam Perry in third.

Kurzbuch wins but Balestri claims ENS title

Kurzbuch wins but Balestri claims ENS title

Simon Kurzbuch won the fourth & final round of the Euro Nitro Series, but second behind the Shepherd driver in Italy was enough for Capricorn’s Dario Balestri to deny the season’s only double winner from retaining the title he won last year at the Mini Autodromo Jody Scheckter track. Starting second behind Top Qualifier Balestri, Kurzbuch would drive the ‘near perfect race’ coming out on top of a thrilling mid race battle between the two world class 1:8 drivers.  Knowing even if Kurzbuch took the win Balestri would see out the 45-minute final in a controlled fashion finishing 5-seconds behind his Main title rival while the other title contender Robert Pietsch finished a distant 5th after an early incident with last year’s race winner Lamberto Collari.  Starting from 12th on the grid having bumped up from the B-Main Alberto Picco would completed the race podium in Fiorano.
