Elliott Boots wins rain affected Montpellier GP

Elliott Boots wins rain affected Montpellier GP

The 2015 Montpellier GP, the European 1/8th off-road outdoor season opener, was held this weekend with some of the fastest French drivers plus special guests from abroad in attendance. Elliott Boots (Kyosho) took the TQ from Robert Batlle (Mugen) and Renaud Savoya (HB). Unfortunately the event came to a halt after the 1/4 finals due to massive rain pouring down, meaning the qualifying results would be taken to determine the overall winner. Behind Boots, Batlle and Savoya US superstar Ryan Maifield came in 4th while Jerome Sartel rounded out the top 5 result.

MIP 5ive-T Bypass1 32mm big bore shock kit

MIP 5ive-T Bypass1 32mm big bore shock kit

Formerly only available for 1/10th shock absorbers MIP now introduces the Bypass1 shock piston technology for Losi’s 5ive-T large scale truck. The kit builds around all-new 32mm shock absorber bodies that do away with the standard 28mm items that may limit the suspension’s performance especially when running bigger engines or when racing in harsh conditions. The new big bore system allows the truck to be more responsive, predictable, and stable on the straights, in the corners and during jumping and landing. With the race proven MIP Bypass1 system equipped and two sets of springs included, the set allows for proper fine-tuning right out of the box. Included in the set are four hard anodised shock bodies, four anodised shock and cartridge caps, two pairs for front and rear springs as well as the Bypass1 piston system with slow, medium and fast rebound valves. The set is rounded out by several small and hardware parts and it is a direct fit with the standard piston rods, seals, spring cups and hardware.

Roche Rapide P12 1/12th scale kit

Following a first teaser Roche now have more images available of their forthcoming P12 1/12th scale competition kit. The comany’s first ever full car kit is constructed from high-quality carbon fibre and 7075 aluminium and builds on a 2.5mm graphite material chassis with aluminium motor pod and a class-standard link-type rear suspension. The servo mount takes micro or mini-size servos and the battery compartment allows for inline or transversal battery mounting. A sturdy aluminium rear brace takes the combined battery and roll damper mounts and the rear axle is located in specially designed brackets that allow axle height changes using spacers and wheelbase adjustments in a ±1mm range. McGinty wins at Southern Indoor Champs

McGinty wins at Southern Indoor Champs

The 2015 Southern Indoor Championship was held in Autaugville, AL with 197 entries in several classes. Friday morning practice started and went to 8 PM that night. The track looked to be a fairly easy layout but drivers quickly discovered just the opposite. The cold and damp surface was slick and quickly developed lots of ruts, breaking bumps and holes throughout. Then there was the woop section which was a handful by itself. On Saturday John Michael McGinty was able to TQ 3 out of the 4 rounds of qualifiers earning him the overall TQ in Pro Electric Buggy. Sunday morning the mains kicked off bright and early. There were triple A mains for all electric classes. John Michael was able to lead the A1 main from start to finish to take the win. In A2 he swapped the lead back and forth with Mugen teammate Barry Pettit. With 3 laps to go Barry slipped by John to take the lead but on the next lap John Michael slipped by Barry on the inside right after the crossover section and he was able to keep his lead and won the A2 main giving him 1st place overall for the class.
