Dario Balestri wins Rd3 Italian Nationals

Last weekend, the 3rd round of the Italian 1/8th scale Nationals were run in Cassino, in the south west of the country. Weather was perfect and in qualifying it saw Daniele Ielasi, winner of the French EFRA GP last week, take the top qualifying position ahead of former European Champion Massimo Fantini, while 3rd spot went to Andrea Cristiani, winner of last weekends ATS Trophy race, held on the same track. D’hondt & Renaux win Benelux Champs

…that took the pole position by only 3 tenths ahead of 2nd placed Jerome Renaux, racing for Kyosho. Read more… The finals on Sunday were held in dry but overcast conditions and in the 1/8th scale final, after Ermen, Ilia Van Gastel and Cuypers dropped out it was an easy win for Serpent racer D’hondt, who took the chequered flag with a 12 lap margin back to 2nd placed Gunther Van Staey racing for Kyosho, while 3rd spot fell to Motonica driver Tom Smolderen. BRX-4 Red Ball Classic 2wd

We’ve only briefly covered the Southern Europe specific Classic 2wd 1/8th scale class before and with the exception of Motonica, who have yet to release their classic model, there are no major manufacturers invloved. Pesenti takes Rd3 of Swiss 1/8th Nats

Last weekend saw the 3rd round of the Swiss 1/8th scale Championship take place on the Sitterdorf track and our man Mattia Pesenti was once again in top form with his Novarossi powered Motonica and he has provided us with this report. Rick V wins Rd3 Dutch Nationals

…Ermen before, and just after the start, ended his challenge, while Rick could just pull away at the front, making a tire stop half way in to the race on his way to the win ahead of Serpent racer Danny Leewis in 2nd and Motonica race Daniel v/d Drift in 3rd. The Nomac class saw a close, race long, battle between young drivers Miguel Hereijgers and René van Dijk, with Miguel taking the top spot in the closing stages of the race thanks to a different tire strategy, Arco Wijnen came home 3rd. German company Gio Racing, set up by Italian Giovanni Petrocelli, have released this new LPC Clutch which is suitable for both the Motonica and Mugen chassis’. NakSung wins Korean National race

…Nam Sangjoon that took the TQ spot with a great run in the 10 minute qualifiers to edge out Goo Kibon and Namgoong Wook who qualified 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the final, the top qualifer Sangjoon lead until a battery connection broke loosing the young driver over a minute, and the lead, which fell to Choi NakSung who went on to win while a recovering Sangjoon took 2nd and Oh YongTaek 3rd. Josue Artiles takes Spanish 1/8th scale Rd2

Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the Spanish 1/8th scale National Championship take place at the fast new Valladolid track, 2 hours north west of Madrid.
