Hobbywing Quicrun brushless motors & controllers

German Hobbywing distributors Hype introduce the Quicrun series of “sports” brushless motors and speed controllers. The controllers are developed to work with sensorless and sensored motors and are LiPo and NiMH battery compatible. There is also a waterproof line of controllers available and a port for an optional programming card makes adjusting the speedos to your likings easy. Available are a 30A 1/16th scale ESC, two 60A 1/10th controllers with and without sensor port, as well as a 150A 1/8th variant. As for the motors, Hobbywing comes with a 3800kv sensorless 1/10th scale and 2000kv sensorless 1/8th scale offering beside four 1760kv to 3450kv sensored 540-size motors.

Avid 12mm hex carbon fibre track width spacers

Avid introduce 12mm hex carbon fibre track width spacers for any car that uses 12mm hexed with 5mm or smaller axles. Available as 0.5mm and 1.0mm variants, increasing the track width can help stabilise a vehicle on the front or rear end. Each set contains five spacers with the fifth one being a spare part. Also available is a 12-piece set including six 0.5mm and six 1.0mm spacers.

Singapore RCMC GP Serie Rd4 – Report

The 4th round of the Singapore RCMC GP Series was held at last weekend with the racers arriving to a wet track in the morning after overnight rain. Thanks to the hard work by some of the drivers, 3 rounds of qualifying got soon underway. In the 1/8th class, Nelson Lee led the way in the first 2 rounds but a fast run by Nicholas Lee in the last qualifier meant that Nelson would start from 2nd in the final. Alvin Ng had a very strong qualifying as well managing to line up 3rd on the grid.

Nick Chong wins at Malaysian on-road GP series Rd2

For round 2 of the Malaysian National GP on-road series, the drivers travelled up North to Dungun, a sunny resort town. The track is considerably smaller compared to other Malaysian tracks but always makes for challenging races and it has plenty of traction but heavy tyre wear to offer. In 1/8th scale Team Serpent driver, Nick Chong took advantage of the cooler conditions in the morning to set the fastest lap time of 15.7 sec, which eventually saw him take the TQ position in the first qualifier as the track got slower throughout the day. Nick was the only driver to score a 19 lap run at 5.09, whilst Kenny Ow, last year’s top qualifier, settled for an 18 lap run in 5.04.

The 1st round of the Spanish nitro off-road nationals took place at the challenging Antas track. In qualifying, to the surprise of many, multi-national champion, Robert Battle (Mugen/Novarossi) only placed himself in 2nd position as Neo14 Junior champion, Oscar Baldo (Mugen/Novarossi), took the overall TQ. Oscar then also went on to win the semi A while Robert successfully ended the semi B but but with a slower time, handing Oscar the pole position for the final.

PSM B5 & B5M carbon fibre front shock towers

Available now from PSM are carbon fibre front shock towers for the Team Associated B5 and B5M buggy. Starting with the V1 version, the part offers two additional camber link positions and weights in at only 10.5g. The second new front shock tower, the V2, sports the same geometry but a total of six upper camber link holes for added adjustability. Both parts are CNC-machined from 5mm glossy finish carbon fibre, they are a direct replacement for the stock parts and come including 7075 aluminium spacers and M3 locknuts.

Renaud Savoya wins at French Buggy nats Rd2

The 2nd round of the French 1/8th off-road nationals was held in Toulouse in very rainy conditions. The race marked the last chance for many drivers to qualify for the World Championships and in the final the race was on between Jerome Aigoin (Kyosho) who took TQ, his brother Yannick (Team Associated) and Renaud Savoya (Xray). At the end it was Renaud who came in first after a long battle with Yannick and Jerome. Yannick grabbed the runner-up spot some 18 second behind the Xray drivers while Jerome completed the podium in 3rd. Jerome Sartel and Edouardo Hugon completed the top 5 result.

Neumann caps off EOS with win #10

Joern Neumann has capped of the third season of the Euro Offroad Series with the overall win in Austria, a result that brings the Team Durango tally of 4WD Buggy victories in the championship to 10.  Having sewn up his third consecutive championship title in A2, the German would go on to win the closing race of the Modelbau Wels Hobby Show event to take victory at the season finale ahead of Top Qualifier Naoto Matsukura with young star and Durango team-mate Michal Qrlowski completing the podium.
