Leadfinger Racing A319 A2.1 Tactic body shell

The latest 1/8th buggy to receive Leadfinger Racing’s A2.1 Tactic body shell treatment is the Agama A319. First introduced in mid-2019, the A2.1 Tactic body design has proven itself on the track with a handful of different platforms. Fitment, performance and looks are key in every design, and every platform presents different challenges with each layout. The Agama was no exception. Fuel tank location, and the position of throttle and brake bias linkages needed to be taken into consideration. LFR were looking for a low profile and sleek design to fit the A319 perfectly. The designers were able to combat these differences by stretching the rake of the windshield and adding to the size of the side pod scoops for just the right amount clearance. To keep performance in check, additional down force was added to the rear of the side pods and rear centre of the body. As things started to come together, Leadfinger Racing topped off the cab with a shark fin for stability. To finish off the design the body includes a front scoop for even more tuning ability. As usual the body comes moulded from high-quality polycarbonate material and it includes window masks and a decal sheet.

JConcepts Detox Aqua compound 1/8th buggy tyre

Available soon from JConcepts is the Aqua compound Detox 1/8th buggy tyre. Designed for demanding track conditions, the closely spaced tread creates the ultimate long main event tyre and combined with the compounds such as blue, green, R2, O2O2 and Y2 and now, aqua gives racers an option for just about any temperature requirement. The design revolves around the centre structure which has hefty lugs arranged in a stacked configuration. The lugs have strategically placed cuts and grooves to allow flex in dusty conditions to perform even if the track is deteriorating while a long main is in progress. The outer portion of the tread fits together like building blocks, with shapes placed together that nest well but also work together to flex laterally to provide steadfast side-bite. The tread tapers off cleanly to the outer side-wall giving a smooth transition during hard cornering. The tyre comes including Dirt-Tech closed cell inserts.

JConcepts Ellipse 2.2” 2WD & 4WD front tyres

JConcepts have introduced the 2.2” 2WD and 4WD front tyre variants of their popular Ellipse tread. The Ellipse, named after the centre bar built into the tread, is a compliment to successful tyres such as the Dirt Webs and Space Bars. The “web” style tyre was built to compete on smooth high-grip indoor and outdoor surfaces which require a finely detailed connected bar pattern. The centre section of the tire is a home run utilising a diamond “home plate” footprint to provide massive surface area for better footprint and increased longevity. The web of extensions are unique and have a directional touch giving the racer the ultimate tune-ability. Jason Ruona explains, “The Ellipse front tire has a slightly wider carcass, it allows the driver to attack high-speed sections with more comfort and smooths the steering of a 2WD buggy. The “home plate” and connected web of tread has a large footprint and 1000’s of edges to produce steering connection. Connected tread wears together which is useful racing indoors where a racer requires surface area to produce steering.” The Ellipse tyres are available in a huge selection of compounds such as blue, green, aqua, gold and the ROAR National Champion, silver compound. Included in each package, the Dirt-Tech closed cell inserts known for their durable nature and grey colour complete the race tuned package.
