Maifield wins big at Summer Indoor Nationals

For the 4th consecutive year, the summer racing scene turns to Chico, California, for one of the largest indoor races in California. The JConcepts Indoor National Series arrived for its 3rd stop on the one of a kind U.S. based National Series. Defending INS champion Steven Hartson was in attendance along with 2013 National points leader Ryan Maifield. The Team Associated duo was set to do battle against the likes of Kyosho’s Cody Turner and TLR’s Phillip Atondo. As a twist, Maifield entered an additional class bringing 4 vehicles to the event to shake things down for an upcoming busy summer schedule.

VBC Wildfire D06 touring car kit

VBC Wildfire D06 touring car kit

Not long ago VBC Racing released teaser shots of the Wildfire D06 touring car prototype and now the company officially introduce the new kit. The car is based on the current Wildfire chassis that received a huge overhaul and comes with an all-new motor mount design moving the motor to the centre line and in a more forward position for increased corner speed and agility. Also new is the chassis assembly that allows for a more linear flex characteristic with improved weight balance. And not only the chassis and drivetrain received a make-over, the wishbones are of a new stronger design and the kit comes with low-profile shock towers and “true big bore” shock absorbers that are shorter but larger in diameter retaining the large volume of the original shocks with the benefits of a lower centre of gravity. Included in the kit that is meant to hit stores at the end of August are also a new design “floating” servo mount and a genuine Panaracer spur gear.

Yokomo B-Max2 optional parts

YokomoBMAX-AlloyChassis

Some weeks ago Yokomo announced new option parts for the B-Max2 line of 2WD buggies and now the parts are available for pre-order. Starting with the aluminium main chassis kit for the B-Max2WR and RS, the set is designed to improve both chassis stiffness and handling performance over the stock composite chassis. Featuring a hybrid construction and moulded plastic side pieces that are used to provide space for the electronics. Next up are two graphite battery holders that provide weight savings as well as improved pitch stiffness. Available for mid and rear motor cars the part also includes all needed mounting hardware and aluminium thumb screws. Designed to improve the rigidity of the front end are the narrow front upper arm mount and the front lower suspension mount. Both parts are available separately, CNC-machined from aluminium and they improve the feeling of the front end by adding weight. Those who want to improve the steering feeling of the buggy may like the aluminium steering bellcrank set. Included with the CNC-machined and blue anodised parts are four ball bearings to make for virtually frictionless steering action. The parts are more rigid than the stock moulded composite levers and offer rock solid cornering performance.

On the Grapevine – Trencin

On the Grapevine – Trencin

I have had the opportunity to visit many great, and many more not so great, r/c venues around the world and have vivid memories of my ‘wow’ reaction on entering the world famous Yatabe Arena in Japan and the mammoth Mike’s Hobby Shop in Texas. Last week however arriving at the season finale of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Slovakia, the Hudy Racing Arena evoked a reaction that is best not put in print. From the time we pulled up in our rental car at the main entrance barrier this place was making a lasting impression. We were greeted by the first of two car-park attendants the second of whom directed us into our parking spot. On entering the building itself the usual handshake and ‘hello’ greeting from drivers and their entourage had been replaced with ‘this place is amazing’, ‘unbelievable’ and ‘mind-blowing’ and that is exactly what the Hudy Racing Arena is.

JConcepts lightweight Hi-Flow SCT body

JConcepts lightweight Hi-Flow SCT body

JConcepts announce the lightweight version of their successful Hi-Flow SCT body shell. Making use of the original design and sporting a large air escape package to adjust the jump handling to your liking the body is made from thinner polycarbonate to shave around 20 percent of weight compared to the regular weight version. This results in a lower centre of gravity and a more nimble reaction of the truck. The body is a direct fit on a wide range of chassis and comes clear, including window masks and a large decal sheet.
