2012 Italian Charity Race – Announcement

Following the great success of last year’s Charity race at the RC Landia permanent carpet track in Italy, the organisers are happy to announce the Charity Race 2012, “We love Emilia”, to be held on their new CRC carpet from the 8th to 9th of December. Having raised more than EUR 5000 last year, this year’s amount will go towards the financing the Maternity ward of the Scandiano Hospital that needs new equipments for the diagnosis of newborn babies. This year, thanks to ToniSport, Xray and Yokomo, they will have competing Marc Rheinard, Ronald Volker, Alexander Hagberg, Vicktor Wilck, Yannic Prumper, Eric Dankel, Martin Hudy, Sandro Kuriger, Rene Klockner, David Ehrbar and Anna Wysgol. Also attending will be the best drivers from all over Italy such as European front runners Francesco Martini, Alessio Menicucci, Alessandro Brunelli and Michele Romagnoli for a weekdend of fun, charity, good food and racing. Torsten Müller signs for SMI Motorsport

SMI Motorsport, German importers for Xray, have announced the signing of Torsten Müller to their Racing Team. The reigning German Class 2 Champion, will run the company’s Xray RX8 for the upcoming season at National and International Events. Torsten had the following to say about the deal:

Firstly, thanks a lot to team Shepherd for their support for the last years. Now it’s a new challenge for me and I’m really happy to join the Xray Team Germany and I will do my best for the next seasons.

Pinkney & Hart win EWS Rd2

Round 2 of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend.  Despite low temperatures outside, the fully heated indoor tennis centre facility left most spending the day in t-shirts and the large carpet circuit offering high levels of grip from the start. The format for the series is five qualifying rounds, with the best 3 to count, and single leg finals.  In the Super Stock 13.5 class, the five rounds of qualifying produced some incredibly close racing, with positions between the top drivers often changing lap-by-lap.

Team Titan Blitz R18-V2 shell

The Blitz R18-V2 is based on the Blitz R18 which was announced in 2011. The V2 version features lower front to provide more steering, a lower rear side give better top speed and quick response when changing direction and they have stiffened the surface to make the body structure stronger. There is 3 different thicknesses ranging from 1.2mm for the best durability, 1.0mm for the best balance of performance and durability and a 0.8mm version for the best performance. They expect the shell to be homologated for the 2013 season.

V is for victory, Meen is World Champion

KM Racing’s Meen Vejrak, or as he is more commonly referred to as Meen V, is the 1:10 Nitro Touring Car World Champion, the Thai driving becoming the country’s second ever IFMAR World Champion after a stunning performance at the RC Addict track in Bangkok saw him win the rain shortened race from HB’s Atsushi Hara and Capricorns’s Francesco Tironi.  For Top Qualifier Teemu Leino engine issues ended what was looking like a dominant run for the rapid Finn who would eventually crash out 7-minutes before the race ended 56 minutes into the scheduled 1-hour distance.

Mibosport Cup Rd2 report

The second out of eight races of the 2012/13 Mibosport Cup attracted 117 drivers from five countries including some of Europe’s top drivers such as Martin Bayer, Zdenko Kunák and Marek Černý. The Mibosport Cup takes place in the same place as the ETS in January. The race was held in a variety of electric classes such as 2WD and 4WD buggy, Formula, Yokomo GT, Stock 17.5T and Modified TC. In the TC Modified class 33 drivers fought for the victory and the battle for TQ was on between Zdenko Kunák, Zdeněk Hamák, Jiří Mára and Marek Černý . In the second and third final Zdenko Kunák was able to secure the top position on the podium followed by Zdeněk Hamák and Jiří Mára.

Galicia Indoor Series report

Ponteareas, Spain saw a round of the Galicia Indoor Series for electric touring cars and M-class mini chassis. The indoor carpet track was modelled  after the one that was used at the Italian ETS encounter with the event being well organized by Iñigo Ledo and Andrés Gonzalez. In the touring car modified class, Helder Silva was the man to beat, he topped the first three rounds of qualifying and took TQ for the A-main final. Damian Garcia lined up second and the duo was followed closely by Javier Hidalgo in 3rd and Jorge Simões in 4th. Both drivers had a good pace but were not able to retain the times over the five minutes qualifiers.
