2014 IFMAR 1/12th and ISTC Worlds update

The organisers of the 2014 electric on-road Worlds got in touch with the following update on the track situation for the 1/12th race and some general information.

A few weeks ago it was announced that Full Throttle Speedway in Kissimmee, Florida would be hosing the 2014 On Road Worlds. Since that time the organizers have been working with city government and community leaders to determine if they could secure facilities to build a temporary carpet track for the 1/12 race. It was determined that this would not be feasible. The 2014 IFMAR 1/12th and ISTC Worlds will be held on asphalt. As part of a series of track improvements leading up to the Pre-Worlds and IFMAR Worlds. The Full Throttle Speedway team has confirmed that the repaving of the track is complete. This investment was made to ensure that the facility would be in world class condition to host the event. The surface is curing now and a new, revised layout will be put in place shortly. F1Paintlab Vintage F1 packages for F104 cars

F1Paintlab, known for their exclusive range of 1/10th Formula 1 decal sheets, introduce their VF1 standard and premium packages to convert any Tamiya F104 chassis into a 60’s vintage F1. Both kits are based around a highly detailed multi-piece polycarbonate body shell and include genuine Tamiya upper and lower F104 chassis decks, T-bars and mounting hardware. The premium package includes the respective F104W GP carbon fibre parts and both kits come without the front end, rear axle assembly, wheels and tyres. The VF1 body is also available separately and suitable for many other 1/10th formula chassis.

Max Flurer wins E-Truggy at AMS 4.0

Now in its fourth year, the Alabama Manufacturer’s Shootout has become one of the premier events on the racing calendar. This year, the Cullman, Alabama track hosted over 500 entries, including the nation’s top factory pros. In the E-Truggy class, AE/Reedy factory driver Max Flurer drove his RC8T Truggy to the pole position. Max took full advantage of his front row start and cruised to victory in both 10-minute A-Main legs en route to the overall win. Joining Max on the podium in second place was teammate Damon Borkowicz.

Thornhill Racing Circuit opening race – Report

After months of anticipation, Thornhill Racing Circuit’s gates opened for the first time on July 4th as racers from USA, Mexico, and Brazil gathered to run the first competitive laps at the new facility for the Grand Opening presented by FTW, Avid, RC America, Xray, Hudy, Hobby Pro USA, Beta, and VP Powermaster. Practice on Friday afforded the first opportunity for racers to experience the magnitude of the nation’s largest track. Designed and built by Joey “The Dirt” Christensen, the track features big lanes as wide as 20′ with European-influencing sweeping turns and American-styled jumps. Lap times dropped throughout Saturday’s qualifiers as the traction improved and drivers began to master the unique layout. Josh Glancy would TQ both nitro buggy and truggy, while Jake Dellinger and Andrew Clark took TQ honors in E-buggy and Pro4, respectively. Glancy made the fastest circuit of the day, lapping the track in 44.6 seconds.

Hitec X1-200 Touch multi-chemistry charger

Hitec introduce the X1-200 Touch DC multi-chemistry charger. The device is designed for the use with a 12V power supply and features a 3.2-inch high resolution touch screen, an integrated balancer and optimized operating software. The charger offers a 200W power circuit and up to 12A of charging and 2A discharge current. Included with the charger comes a universal balancing board, alligator clips and a T-type charging cable.

Euro title contenders content at end of Day 1

With no official timing available from the three rounds of practice that made up the schedule for today’s opening day of action at the 1:8 Offroad European Championships in France, it is hard to decipher which driver has best mastered the conditions of the unique chalk surface Reims track but at the end of a very hot day all the main contenders have declared that they are happy with the direction in which they are headed although some seem more convincing than others.

John Ermen wins 1/8th at West German regionals Rd3

Last weekend saw the third round of the West German nitro on-road regionals at the fast and tricky Hamm track. The weather on Saturday was rainy but the track dried up at around 2 o’clock and was afterwards sprayed with sugar water to up the traction a bit. On Sunday the weather was much better with the sun coming out making for around 23 degrees ambient temperature. After three heats of qualifying Steven Cuypers put his car in front with John Ermen in second and Emil Kostadinov in third position.

33rd 1:8 Offroad Euros underway in Reims

The 33rd running of the 1:8 Offroad European Championships got underway this morning in France with Day 1 of the event, which will come to a conclusion on Saturday, set to be a rather uneventful affair with just 3 rounds of untimed practice making up today’s schedule. Having had the Warm-up race cancelled just as the Semi-finals got underway due to rain, the hot sunny weather that has greeted drivers on their arrival to the famous Champagne producing city has created a totally different set of track conditions with tyre choice set to be the key factor to the outcome of the race.
