Jakubczyk wins Factory Tracks Midwest Series Rd3

Last weekend was the third round of the Factory Tracks Midwest Series at Pheasant Run Raceway. This fine, privately ran facility is located on the owner’s family farm in rural Michigan. The track conditions are a bit of a departure from most modern tracks, featuring a loosely packed surface with large jumps and bumps, which produce a lot of flying soil and excitement. In the always competitive 2wd open buggy class, Kyosho’s Jason Jakubczyk secured the pole position after three rounds of points style qualifying. In the main, the TQ man was able to get out to a good lead as the rest of the field fell into disarray. Jakubczyk was driving quickly but casually for most the race, until Mike Wells came through the field and began to turn up the heat. It came down to the final lap, and Wells was making some desperate moves to catch up to the leader. Jason managed to hang on for the victory, Wells would finish second, and FTMS organizer Al Horne would finish third. We’re now halfway through the series, and the points are adding up. The next event is August 4th at Dales RC in Genesse, MI.

JConcepts Mono wheels, wheel nuts & body clips

JConcepts introduce the B44.1 Mono wheels, 8/32″ thin-pattern locking wheels nuts and black medium-size body clips. Starting with the wheels, these are a direct fit on the Team Associated B44.1 buggy and match the design of the rear Mono wheels that are around for a while now. They offer the maximum size allowed under ROAR rules and make a statement with their large appearance, slight convex dish shaped design and superior inner rib design. The wheels incorporate an outer glue catch that resists excess glue from running down the wheel face during the gluing process. The wheel comes in sets of four and is available in yellow and white colour.

Steven Hartson wins 2012 JBRL Rd5

Team Associated’s Steven Hartson has swept the competition at the fifth round of the 2012 JBRL at the Controlled Chaos Raceway in Palmdale, CA. The race format saw two rounds of qualifying with rocket round and a single main event all run on Saturday. Steven attended the 2WD Mod Buggy and Mod Truck class and was able to comfortably grab TQ in both classes. In the buggy A-main he pulled a lead of about five seconds over Mike Truhe who qualified third, for about the first two minutes of the race. Mike made a couple of mistakes which allowed runner-up Cody Turner by for second. Turner tried to make a charge the last minute, but the gap was too far apart. Steven ended up winning by about five seconds over Turner. Hayato Matsuzaki rounded out the podium. In Mod Truck Steven got out to a good lead and put in good consistent laps. By the end of the race, he was almost a lap up on second placed Matt Castellano and Mike Truhe in third position.
