Serpent introduce new option parts for the S100 and S120 pan cars in the form of updated rear bearing blocks and a carbon fibre X-brace. The motor pod parts are CNC-machined from 7075-T6 aluminium, they come grey anodised and increase the stiffness of the car’s rear end when combined with the carbon fibre X-brace. The parts fit all earlier models of the S120 and S100, and are included in the S120-LTX and S100-LT kits.

New from nVision come two LiPo battery packs in the form of a 3S 3200mAh pack and a 2500mAh receiver battery. Starting with the 3200mAh 11.1V 3S pack, the power source comes in a protective hardcase and is build from 45C high-performance cells. It comes pre-wired with a Deans-style connector and is ideal for 1/10th Traxxas trucks, many off-road vehicles and also run 1/8th buggies on 6S configuration. The second new battery is a 2500mAh receiver pack in 2S2P configuration. Sporting dimensions of 53x30x30mm the pack weights 100g and comes pre-wired with a JR-compatible universal connector.

So, after much discussion, debate and deadline extensions, the 2014 Electric On-Road World Championships was awarded to the USA, and the Full Throttle Speedway in Florida. Personally, I think it is right that ROAR should hold this event – yes, the on-road element in the States isn’t anywhere near as strong as off-road at present, but we often see the ebb and flow of popularity between classes. It’s also a great advertisement to get more people into the on-road classes and, let’s not forget, the event is for the 1/12th class as well as the Touring Car Class. The US is home to many of the smaller 1/12th-producing companies – an excellent opportunity for them to attend that section of the event and again promote their product.

The Astra Nitro Cross 2013 was held last weekend at Auto Bayer arena in Slavkov u Brna and Martin Bayer gives a short rundown on how the meeting went. The event is the largest in the Czech Republic with many drivers from Europe attending the annual event. The track again was pretty challenging with banked turns, technical corners and difficult jumps. Rain on Friday meant the race started a little later than planned and practice was limited to rounds with a following qualification round. The first practice round was run on a wet track but that later on dried up. Xray’s Martin Bayer was able to TQ both openings rounds of the nitro buggy and electric buggy class. On Saturday four more rounds of qualification were run and again both classed been dominated by Martin. Five minutes before the third run a heavy rain interrupted the racing making it necessary to cancel the round.

On the weekend of the 7th of July Racing Experience France will hold the Novarossi Trophy Grenoble. Run in 1/8th 4WD, 1/8th GT and 1/8th 2WD Classic the race will see the attendance of Adrien Bertin with some other big names to be announced soon. The Xray Challenge Roma was held at the T5 track in Rome, Italy. Practice on the small and technical track started on Friday with many drivers trying to get a feel and setup for the flat high grip surface. Unfortunately for the organisers and the racers, most of the Saturday was washed away by the ever present rain in Europe these Spring. However the drivers were able to get at least two hours of practice on the Saturday afternoon. This was followed by one of the highlights of the event, the Xray dinner party, held at the track that same night. It was a memorable evening with great food, atmosphere, and even a couple of surprises. The lucky draw was a much appreciated moment as well – with delighted winners.
